i'll counter by saying

Meyer, Goodwin, Karns, Flores/Leon, Espinosa, moore

Why do the Rays want a 25 year old who just finished Single A? Why do they want our third string catchers who belong in Triple A? These are nothing prospects.

Even Meyer and Goodwin are long term projects. Meyer still translates better to the bullpen. Goodwin's ceiling BJ Upton/Chris Young. And he was clearly overmatched in Double A.

The Dbacks are going to be offering Upton and Miley. The Rangers will be offering Profar/Andrus, Ott/Perez, and something else. These C and B- type prospects are simply not going to cut it. Even with Espinosa, who has regressed BTW.

Hope we get some realistic offseason transaction talk going soon.

You could start ... but there has been plenty of realistic offseason talk in here. It's coming from the people who are saying that the Nationals won't make any big changes. I tend to agree with that.

For one, we won 98 games. Next year we get Strasburg for a full season. Hopefully we can stay healthier. I see no reason why the Nationals can't make the postseason with the current roster.

Second, I believe some of the talk about there being GMs not liking Rizzo. I think there will be less GMs willing to deal with Rizzo, or at least, looking at his offers with a skeptical eye.

Goodwin's avg. will be substantially higher than upton's or young's.  Also if you haven't noticed the rays have absolutely no catching so they would probably welcome flores or leon.  They did have a combination of jose lobaton and jose molina catching this year.

Flores and Leon are not major league caliber catchers. Frankly, I think Solano has more upside than either of those two.

And I don't think Goodwin will ever be a high average guy. Not with is strikeout rate. But, more importantly, it's way too early to tell. He's a low B prospect at this point.

We don't have the prospects to get Price. It is that simple. Remember what we gave up for Gio? Peacock, Milone, Cole, and Norris. The Rays would want equivalent to that, plus another guy or two, and we simply don't have that now.

As much as i love price, kershaw has him beat there.

Price is doing it in the AL east,  Kershaw in the NL west,  to me that gives price the edge

Whatever.  I can see I won't win this argument.  We can sideline these until some david price trade rumors come up later in the offseason.

Exactly. Now, if Rendon had stayed healthy and raked in the minors this year, it might be different.

On another topic.  I think melky would be a great fit in the 2 hole for us.  he'd add a good bat and would balance out the righty-heaviness

Not saying that I want him, but I'm really curious to see what the market for Melky will be because he was a pretty major disappointment before he got to San Francisco and subsequently busted for 'roids.

His issue with roids is what I'm most afraid of if we took a chance on him.

I think the conspiracy to cover up his usage is more damning. The Giants don't seem to have an issue with giving guys second or third (Mota) chances, yet they don't appear to have any interest in signing Cabrera.

I'm all for no major moves this offseason. Just find a 4th/5th starter and tweak the bullpen. This roster is good. It's easy to magnify all these "flaws" after a brutal LDS loss but this roster won 98 games with a ton of missed time from nearly every position player.

Here's the biggest move we'll make. We'll be trading a .270/.340/.477 22-homer 19-year-old OF for a 20-year-old MVP candidate.

I want an upgrade in the field (high average bopper), but short of that, there is no real reason to do more than tweak

I love me some Danny, but we can't have that performance in the playoffs next year (provided we're lucky enough to make it next year).  If an offensive upgrade at 2B can be had we might have to take it.

2011, obviously.  Just look at his stats before and after.
