http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/10/diamondbacks-weighing-trade-of-kubel-or-parra.html

The Diamondbacks are weighing trading Kubel or Parra though.

Parra would be a good leadoff hitter. Plays great outfield defense.

err now that I think about it, Rendon and Espinosa gone in the same trade destroys our 2B depth lol.

I like Parra. I think he'd be a great addition here but I wouldn't be mad if we kept Werth in the leadoff position.

Hit them 1/2. OBP machines!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Werth R
Parra L
Zimmerman R
LaRoche L
Desmond R
Harper L
Espinosa S
Ramos R
Pitcher L/R

Parra would also be under his current, very affordable contract thru 2015.

Rizzo drafted two guys in the 1st round that year, both are in the majors. That's impressive.
They aren't just in the majors, they are studs in the majors.

PSh, one of them has a wussy elbow and the other likes to choke in the playoffs.

Meanwhile, that beautiful bastard Trout is going to win the MVP, SS, GG, and RotY

I keep forgetting how awesome this offense can be if they pan out  nice lineup.

Put the OBPs from 2012 in parenthesis (used Ramos's 2011 OBP)

Looks like he's already won the Slate-man of the year.

If laroche wants a 3 year deal he can have fun playing somewhere else.

As a signing bonus. Meaning did he slip due to signability. I don't think he did. Angels just made a hell of a pick.

Less than Storen.

2013 Status-1st-Year Arb Eligible 2013
Earliest Arb Eligible: 2013
Earliest Free Agent: 2015

Brett Gardner - yeah, I knew he wasn't a free agent for a while.  I was thinking of a trade.  They may lose Nick Swisher - maybe Morse may be of value to them as a corner outfielder?  If not Morse, then maybe Tyler Moore?

Gardner was hurt this past year, but he plays a good CF and can get on base.  Might be a good buy-low candidate.

Pirates also have a glut of outfielders.  Tabata or Presley could probably be had in a trade.

My ideal lineup for 2013:

RF Jayson Werth
LF Melky Cabrera
3B Ryan Zimmerman
CF Bryce Harper
1B Michael Morse
SS Ian Desmond
2B Steve Lombardozzi (until June, then Rendon takes over)
C   Wilson Ramos

...And Rotation:

#1.  Stephen Strasburg
#2.  David Price
#3.  Jordan Zimmermann
#4.  Gio Gonzalez
#5.  Ross Detwiler

Make it happen Rizzo!

I wonder what it would take to get Justin Upton... just spitballing.

Justin Upton is the only guy out there I would be willing to empty the farm for. Stud OF who isn't just potential he has already had an MVP type season a few years ago. Oh to dream.

This. No way I give him a 3 year deal the most is a 2 year deal with an team option for a 3rd. I doubt he takes anything less than 3-4 in which I hope Rizzo wises up, lets him go moves Morse to 1rst/Moore/Free Agent to the OF

If you don't bring back ALR, then that puts you in a real bind for lefty power.  There are not many corner OF, 1b, or even 2b options out there that are not dogs.  Kotchman?  Pena?  You'd be left with only Bryce as a reason not to throw righties against us.

let laroche walk, move morse to 1st, move bryce to the 4 spot, and add a left handed hitting table setter to play LF and bat 2nd.

Just a thought on LaRoche, I think it's a little unfair to call this year a career year.  It's his second consecutive (healthy) year where he's put up 100 rbi's and his slash line is remarkably similar to his career numbers.  The only difference between this year and past seasons is that he didn't get off to a slow start, he was pretty steady all year long.  I think you'll get a couple more years of that from him, he brings some really nice balance to the lineup and a consistent glove at 1B and bat at the plate.  If there's a deal to be done, it makes too much sense to do it.  Frankly, I'd have no problem giving him 3 years if that's what it took.

Further I get from the game the less I want to let Morse go unless it is a really good haul.

I'm a total Michael Morse fan boy. I think he'll come back next year and hit 30 homers and be a nasty power hitter.

Need LaRoche at first and in the batting order for two reasons:  he is brilliant in the field and our only lefty power hitter. Plus he is great in the clubhouse. Don't need the lumbering Morse anywhere because we have his younger version in Tyler Moore, who has as much power, can play first and is a little better in LF.

Morse basically has to go unless LaRoche has crazy demands  ie more than 2 years plus a mutual option.  Trade Morse to AL team and pick up bull pen help.

I'm starting to think this way too.  however, i do think we need morse or laroche to go because having morse in left simply is a trainwreck.  I believe laroche wants a 3 year deal, which I am not comfortable giving him.  Check the free agent market if you haven't already.  He is far and away the best infielder available.  The Red Sox, Indians, Pirates, Mariners, Orioles all strike me as teams that could have interest in him and if there is demand he will surely get offered a 3 or even 4 year deal at some point.  At that point I have no problem letting laroche go, moving morse to first, and signing melky or trading trading for a guy like parra.
