I have $20 in my wallet...I figure from bethesda taking the metro will cost me about 7 or 8 dollars....think i can score a ticket for just $10.  I forgot my credit cards and atm card.   

I'd use the metro trip planner before you go. Fares have skyrocketed. Might be cheaper to get off at union station and pay a dollar for the Circulator bus.
