He is right that he is finally playing in a baseball city.

You can't argue against that. Washington and Pittsburgh may have qualified decades ago but not anymore.

Washington qualified in 2005, before Lerner sucked the life out of this team.

Not a bad point.

2005 was the "ooh, shiny" effect.

The sun was shining for sure. And then Lerner entered the picture and proceeded to micturate on the parade.

Haha, this is exactly like what the posts in Pirates fan forums were like when he came to Washington.

Here's Morgan slashing a double into the RF corner and falling on his face trying to make a triple out of it...

Ok, I'll admit that I've been a Brewers fan since I was a kid but I really hope Morgan gets booed, struck out and commits 22 errors this weekend.  What an idiot.

Morgan taking shots at the Riggler?

"There is just good chemistry here, and everybody gets along. That's what you need to have a great ballclub and to succeed. Our goal is to reach the playoffs. It starts from having a good skipper. And when you have a good skipper -- and he brings his personality into the locker room that's full of energy and has a great atmosphere -- that's a piece of the puzzle that people don't realize."

So what?  We all know that his eventual line will be about half that.

"It's April"

"Small sample"

etc.

here's hoping he takes a bad line on a fly ball that costs them the pennant

That's the way I'm thinking as well.

Either...

A) Nyjer and the Brewers come into town and roll over the Nats.

or

B) The Nats bean Nyjer and a huge brawl breaks out and the Nats are a closer team because of it.

Don't see what else could possibly happen. No way this is a quiet three game set. Though, I don't expect Nyjer to start tonight with Gorzo on the mound.

Doesn't stop folks from criticizing poor performances from most of our lineup.

i really think we take two out of three from the brew crew.  give us a 7-8 record going into st. louis i'll take it.

i know he's close with some of the nats, but i get a feeling some of the other guys got tired of his act.  this is an exact replica of how he played for us coming over.  the fans loved him, his teammates loved him, he was performing and playing hard.  then things went south.  i'm sure history will repeat itself.

He's going to play aggressive as hell. Hopefully we can take advantage of it.

So still not drawing walks and dependent on an unsustainable BABIP?  Who wants to take the "under" on his batting average going forward?  Who wants to take give .200 points of BA and .300 points of SLG?

So - how many outs does he make on the basepaths?  2?  3?

If I didn't know better I'd say you were fishing.  You know damn well that that line isn't even close to sustainable for Morgan, whereas the performances in our lineup that some are critical of aren't (by and large) all that far from most of the respective players' career patterns.  And we still don't know that Morse will actually amount to anything, I'm not sure why anyone assumes he must return to a higher level of performance.

Desmond, Ankiel, Werth, LaRoche are no where near their "career patterns".

Edit: Ok, I guess Ankiel is near his last two years.

I'll split it 50/50 with you.  Desmond and LaRoche most certainly ARE (cold starters), while Werth and Ankiel are not (I hadn't realized how bad their line was right now)

Funnily enough, I feel like Ankiel is always getting clutch hits.

Sorry, misunderstood what you meant by career patterns.

No problem.  That's why I said "pattern" instead of line or norm or whatever...  guess it didn't work too well

PS - what's the sun avatar about?
