How do you know it was a hit and run and not just a straight steal? I really don't think they'd hit and run there.

Why not?  They haven't been able to get runs in, so maybe get something going.  It wouldn't be the worst call ever.

Watch him hit a solo HR here...

Well, it was a hit...with no one on. Sad.

Bernadina won't be the 3rd out for the first time tonight.
He's young and Roy Halladay is not exactly a bum...even on his "off nights."

When the freak have I turned it into an excuse, I saw desmond take off and zim swing...who's to say it was/wasn't a straight steal or hit and run.  To me it looked like hit and run to get something going.

Look, on a hit and run, you aren't at the next bag by the time the pitch crosses the plate, as Desmond was.

It was a straight steal because Desmond was sliding into third by the time Zimmerman was swinging... had it been a hit and run, you actually wait to take off until the batter starts his swing... that's why when you see a busted hit and run, the runner gets thrown out by a mile... because they weren't going to make it on a steal. Desmond, had third base stolen easily if Zimmerman hadn't swung... because he stole. It was not a hit and run.

Hit and run would be a ridiculous call. You open up a foot more room by forcing the third baseman to cover, Desmond is going to score anyway on a single to the OF from second. I wonder if the Phillies cover second and throw behind and get Dunn in that situation (double steal/botched hit and run).

I went back and watched it and Halladay gave Desmond really lazy looks and timing on the first two pitches to Zim. One look as he comes set and as soon as he turns away he's rolling to the plate. On that third pitch Desmond probably had him timed and decided to take the free base. Unfortunately, that's not really the safest count or wisest situation to try it and it backfired.

That's your opinion ... when I saw it looked like it was a hit and run.  I'm not sticking up for him I don't care who the freak was running.  Tough luck but that ball drops its a tie game.

Almost sounded like he was joking, but he looks pretty fit, so maybe...

Halladay wasn't sharp tonight, we let him off the hook.

Another terrible loss by our low payroll ballclub 8)

Sadly Bautista only has one home run tonight. I'm disappointed in him.

1-0 games don't happen often in that band box of a park
