No I remember saying the complete opposite and that reminds me I was right about Harris and how he would be the starter in left by the end of the season and would be one of the best for the team HA
This is exactly why we thought Harris would wash out

The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that the Twins are interested in Luis Ayala.

Ayala is 31 years old and had an ugly 5.71 ERA last season, but posted marks of 2.92, 2.69, 2.66 and 3.19 during his previous four seasons. Still, it's odd that the Twins would pass on the many qualify middle relievers who have signed cheaply this offseason and then show interest in Ayala. Prior to last season's struggles his secondary numbers never matched his shiny ERAs, but Ayala is also better than he looked last year.

Rangers agreed to terms with outfielder Marlon Byrd on a one-year, $3.06 million contract.

Byrd, who made $1.8 million last season, asked for $3.6 million and was offered $2.7 million in arbitration. The 31-year-old had a great second half last year and was unusually successful against righties. As a result, he'll likely enter 2009 as the Rangers' primary left fielder ahead of David Murphy.

Oh how the mighty have fallen . . . to go from being the Nats' "Face of the Franchise" to a minor league contract with the Sox.  Then again, maybe that's not so far to fall  :?  There were nights when I thought the P-Nats were better, and played with more heart, than our big boys.  Sigh.

I was going to say that there are many out there who consider the guy who washes the jockstraps at Fenway to have a more noble station in baseball than anyone currently on the Nationals...not a belief I share, but we will be seeing plenty of those people in June, if not before (like puking out of cabs on St. Patricks Day)

The Nats-Reds Connection continues. Rotoworld:

Reds signed first baseman-outfielder Daryle Ward to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

Ward was a great bench player in 2006 and 2007, but he slipped to .216/.319/.402 in 102 at-bats last season. The Reds would seem to have 10 position player spots accounted for between Ramon Hernandez, Ryan Hanigan, Joey Votto, Brandon Phillips, Edwin Encarnacion, Alex Gonzalez, Jeff Keppinger, Jerry Hairston Jr., Willy Taveras and Jay Bruce. That would leave three jobs open for Chris Dickerson, Jonny Gomes, Ward, Jacque Jones, Norris Hopper, Wilkin Castillo and Laynce Nix. Ward would seem to have a pretty good chance of securing a spot as a pinch-hitter unless Gonzalez's status forces the team to carry an extra infielder.

Jose Guillen injured himself Wednesday while trying to remove a severely ingrown nail in his right big toe.

Royals officials are pretty upset that Guillen didn't obey doctors orders and attempted the surgery on his own. Nonetheless, he's expected to return to the field sometime this weekend.

From the Kansas City Star:

Quote
“The doctor saw me (Wednesday),” Guillen said, “and he said we’ll see how it feels in the morning. If it wasn’t any better, he wanted me to have surgery. I thought, ‘Whoaaa.’ So I went on my own (Wednesday) to the pharmacy, got some tweezers, came home and pulled it out myself. Let me tell you, I cried. I had one tough hour. But I got it out.”

“I reached in there (with the tweezers),” he said, “and poked around until I got the end of it. Then I counted one, two, three and just pulled …. Oh, my God. It came out, but tears were running down my cheeks.”

Wuss.

The Marlins played Bonifacio today at 3B which is mind boggling to me, because he has never played the position in his career and I always saw his strengths as his speed/range and defense in the middle of the field.  I guess they are him out to see if he can play the position, as he will probably be a utility IF for them, a role that he is well suited for.  Oh, and he went 0-2 with a SO.
