New Indians manager Manny Acta has hired Tim Tolman as bench coach, Steve Smith as third-base coach and Scott Radinsky as bullpen coach.

Tolman spent two seasons as Acta's third-base coach with the Washington Nationals. He spent four years in Cleveland's organization, serving as minor league field coordinator from 2003-06 before joining Washington. Tolman worked with Acta for 12 years in Houston's player development system.

Smith worked as an infield and third-base coach with Seattle, Texas and Philadelphia.

Radinsky has spent the last three seasons as Cleveland's Triple-A pitching coach.

Acta, fired last season by the Nationals, hired Tim Belcher as pitching coach earlier this month.

This almost sounds like a Ponzi scheme. The Braves sign Wagner, giving the Red Sox the 19th pick in the 1st round and a supplemental pick. They turn around and give up their own first rounder (somewhere in the high 20s) when they sign Scutaro. Now if they sign Holliday and let Bay sign with another team, their own 1st and 2d round picks go to St L and Tor but they get a first or 2d round pick back from the team that signs Bay, plus another supplemental. Of course, if the Braves sign another Type A fromanother team, it might push the Wagner compensation down a round, but the supplementals stay. If things break right for the Red Sox and they sign Lackey, too, they could end up with 4 picks before the 2d round while giving up their own 1 - 3.

Why? I see a lot of those games round here, they're awful. Give me the Mariners/Angels or Giants/Cardinals. something like that. Not that'd matter, I'll be watching the Nats regardless most nights...

At least they are different. I don't know about you but I get sick of watching the same damn teams over and over. I would be happy to never watch a Yankees or Red Sox game for the rest of my life.

Greinke vs Verlander. That would be fun.

Hell even the Nationals opener, Halladay vs Lannan, should be exciting.

Same thing in the NFL. We didn't get any Vikings games all year up until like a month ago and now it seems we get them every week. I am so sick of them.

I like to watch different teams.

Looking forward to watching Alex Smith run the spread offense tonight on MNF.

Meh, that might hold my attention for 3 innings or so, but I wouldn't watch the whole game, and frankly, until we get to the point where the pennant races heat up towards the end of September, I won't watch any games straight through other than the Nats. I'll watch the Yanks when Joba is pitching and the Twins when Duensing is pitching and check in on the Royals to see how Alex Gordon is pitching because those are Nebraska guys, but that's about it.

I agree. It may sound weird, but as a Red Sox fan, I get tired of having them on national TV so much. It is a real imposition on their local fans to have their afternoon games grabbed and shifted to the evenings, and the 4:00 Fox Satruday games end up killing your day if you try to watch them. how do you drive in from Maine or Vermont for that?

This April 4 game at night in NY has a decent chance to be miserable weather. Rangers hosting Mariners would have been ideal weather-wise. Rays hosting Yankees would have been better, or Dodgers hosting Phillies or Rockies.

Trying to prove that if you throw enough monkey poo at a bullpen catcher, eventually you can come up with some overpriced poo? I thought he would have declared success last year after signing Fuentes.
