First off, there was no sniper rifle at the game, that was pre-game only for a demonstration for a weapons company. Only binoculars were used during the game.

Secondly, the Super Bowl has a ton of important people there... you don't think there's armed security there to take down a threat if necessary?

My guess is they never would - that many moving people packed in so tightly if they mistake something for a threat or shoot to protect a celebrity and miss- I can't see them ever doing it or if they did persmiisipn ever being given to actually shoot

Well, Dirty Harry would just say "make my day" if someone threatened to kill a hostage.

Manning supposedly wants to play for the Texans according to a post on Rotoworld. I don't see the Texans dropping Schaub for him.

Maybe he means the Chiefs.  After all, that was their original name before Lamar hunt moved them to KC.

My suspicion is that he would pick an AFC team because the Mannings dream of the possibility of the two of them facing off in a SB. I bet that was part of the reason why Eli refused to play in SD. They probably don't like even the idea of them knocking each other off in the playoffs unless it's in the SB.

I doubt a team good enough to make the super bowl would take the gamble on him- he seems like a good way to sell tickets, but do you really see him being able to lead a new team at this point in his career?

Jaws removed from the MNF booth. ESPN to run two man booth (Gruden and Tirico) in 2012.

WTF!

There were times when Gruden seemed to shun Jaws. I got the sense that Gruden either didn't like Jaws or thought he was better than Jaws.

Agreed. There was definitely some tension there.

It seemed to me that Gruden was being an jerk about it. Jaws may be a film geek but he never came off to me as an jerk.

Jaws just disappeared for long stretches when Gruden was doing all the back and forth with Tirico. Very bad chemistry in the booth.  I am not sure they don't like each other, but Jaws just seemed unwilling to pipe and deflate or argue with Gruden.  The best three men booths are when the analysts are willing to poke at each other, like Cosell and Meredith.

It also takes an play-by-play guy who knows how to draw out the more reticent guy by keying up questions and analysis that pitch to his strength.  John Miller was a master at it when Orel and Morgan was in the booth, even when Orel was the new guy.  He'd go, time for something intelligent, let me ask Orel something up his alley, time to stroke an all time great's ego, let me ask Joe about the Reds or his high school's sports program.  Tirico did not do this as well.

You mean Jon Miller, right?

Gruden sucks giant penii and if I hear "I call this guy 'The Terminator X 4000', he's a real bruiser" this season I'm going to shoot my TV.

I liked the days when ESPN Sunday night football had Joe Theismann, Paul McGuire, and Mike Patrick. Those guys were the crap, tons of chemistry

Tirico is okay, can't stand Gruden though. I liked Jaws but Gruden was a dick so they had to do something.

Might have liked it had they combined Tirico and Jaws with someone who is a bit more serious and well-spoken.  Maybe a defensive coach type like Herm Edwards or Eric Mangina.

Jaws is too freaking positive about everything. I'm glad he's gone, although I don't like Gruden much either.

Gruden is terribly uninformed.  He's constantly making mistakes about things that he should know with even a little bit of research or paying attention.

They certainly beat the days of listening to OJ Simpson in the booth and Eric Dickerson on the sidelines reporting in scat.

KC signed Raiders castoff Stanford Routt, thus confirming that Brandon Carr will hit the open market. He's a twenty-six year old legit number one corner. He'll get a big deal from someone.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner... Gruden is an expert in asshattery and asshattery alone. I like Jaws and believe he's getting the shaft.
