For those going today: Capital Weather Gang's NatCast has 'Hot in the sun, pretty nice in the shade. Not a bad way to send the Nats into the all-star break, and near .500 to boot' with <10% chance of rain.

(It's days like this that make one grateful for those water vendors along Half street. My favourite is the one normally first along the row as one comes out of the Metro station, closest to 'Das Bullpen' - he's got $1 half-litre bottles as well as the $2 ones generally on offer.)

Still Metro trackwork going on on the Blue, Red and Yellow lines including Yellow line trains running at 24min intervals - budget time accordingly.

i love the national zoo. thinking of going soon, it's been a while. my parents went a couple weeks ago.

It's under major renovations which are kind of disheartening, but the invertabrate house and Amazonia are all new.

FYI, Barry Larkin (on Baseball Tonight) was asked to make an "out on the limb" prediction for the NL in the second half of the season and his was that Strasburg would win three games this year and Bryce Harper would have his first two major league home runs.

Stuff from when I was a kid even a few years ago like giraffes and hippos are just gone. The elphant section is all ripped up, you have to around a fence and see them outside. They are building a lot.

I'm interested to see how long Harper stays in AA if he dominates it like he did low A ball.

I'm glad that the Angels called up Trout, it'll give the Nationals a nice look at what could happen if they want to bring Harper up.
