Wow.  I was one of the lucky ones last Wednesday.  Monday sounds good ...

Nice sequence of events worked out for me this afternoon.  I had called Fireworks again and was told that Thursday was the day.  Then a little after four they Tweeted that RotLH was on tap, having had a long day of meetings putting me behind schedule it was looking doubtful, but then by the grace of God the power went out and down the stairs we went.  The whole block had no power, but the taps were working as was the oven, so we scored a brew and a pizza.  As we sat there we watched as one at a time the three emergency lights blinked out until the whole place was dark.  A real nice way to spend a half hour before hitting a rainy rush hour traffic jam with the street lights out.

Cold weather makes me drink a lot of beer. Still working through a backlog of oktoberfests. Sprinkling in some winter beers depending on temp

I like them better than winter lagers.  Except any winter lager beats the pants off of Guiness, in terms of flavor

Guinness is hugely popular in west Africa...it's stronger and sweeter than the stuff from Dublin (it is brewed locally).  A sign that someone has arrived is the drinking of Guinness and Johnny Walker instead of the local brands, let alone palm toddy.

I like Guiness

And it's also only 125 calories, so it's good for dieting :P

I use Williams a lot. And the folks at more beer.com are good too, go check their brewing structures if you have a few extra grand lying around.

Went by Fireworks in Arlington today and they have the Sierra Nevada Red IPA on tap.  It was awesome.

I stopped by Fireworks and ordered the Sierra Torpedo IPA, a real nice beer that was labelled as being the first one tapped in Virginia, but I asked the bartender if this was the one I had read about and she replied "no".  The one they tapped at 4 on Wednesday was kicked by 7.  They're tapping another one next week, likely on Monday.

Bar in Austin had Dogfish Head 120 on tap and I didn't order it, was this a mistake?

(What I did have: Blanche de Bruxelles, Thirsty Goat Amber, Old Rasputin, St Bernardus Abt 12)

it's a great beer and a rare release, but I don't think it's the nirvana that some people make it out to be- I'd personally go with the Belgians

As much as I like Dogfish, the 120 minute is usually too much for me.  Although I order it everytime it's on tap at the Dogfish Alehouse in Falls Church

The Dogfish Alehouse in Falls Church just put the Burton Baton on tap.  It's an oak aged 90 Minute IPA.  My favorite of all Dogfish beers

Give gentrification a few more years and you can just change chocolate city's name
