Maybe because Davey is in direct communication with LaRoche? After all he just bought a side of beef from him. LaRoche is also one of Davey's in season golf buddies. I would bet that if LaRoche re-signs, it'll be in large part because of Davey.
I'd say that it would be entirely based on Davey as LaRoche would almost certainly have to accept less money to return.
