Are you planning on riding home?  I'd steer clear of creeks...I'm sure Beach Drive will be under water if Rock Creek gets any more rain.

16.6 mi to work today.

Eh, I like to know how far I've ridden total.  Granted, my bike computer reset after I had racked up 800 miles on it when I switched bikes (26" to 700cc) but I love looking down at the end of a long ride and seeing 347.1 total miles ridden.

It's pretty good. I had a few days where MapMyRide cut off more than half my ride.

So, Strava has been more consistent. And it calculates moving time, so, the MPH is more accurate.

Did 20 miles in the rain today averaging 13.5mph. Only issue was hitting a hidden mud puddle at the end of the Mt Vernon Trail that could have been a serious crash had I not clipped out and corrected real quick.

Pretty amazing that Hincapie is still racing.  I had the dubious distinction of being lapped by him a third of the way through a junior race many moons ago...

Check this out:

Looks like a $20 stem might have been just what the doctor ordered to get my crazy body fitted on the Cross Check correctly.  This one is only a 120mm and seems to be a perfect fit, though I'm going to try out a 140mm just in case.  Bike is still a little small to get into the drops but I think my 100lbs of belly flab are more the issue there than anything.  Should put another 20 miles on this beast tonight once the sun starts going down.

Re the TDF last stage:  Great job by Wiggo snake EBH and Cav through the bunch from about 1.3 km to go.  It was sort of like the job Hincapie did for HTC in 2009.  There really wasn't a clear shot through to the front, but using his flat out speed, he just blew through, dragged Boassen-Hagen and Cavendish into the clear and the front, and then it was missile time.

For the yellow jersey to lead out the sprint on the Champs Elysees shows some serious moxie, but to have done so after doing the same thing just a couple of days earlier makes it totally full of win.  Loved it.

Well, inside the last three km, he goes down, he doesn't lose time, but it was a real "I owe it to you" moment.  I had read something about how Cav and Wiggo had had a falling out after the last Olympics when they did poorly in their Olympic event after being defeindg world champs.  Apparently, the Brit Olympic team was focused on pursuit, and the pursuit gold round was the day before the Madison and did not allow Wiggo to recover.

I wonder if it'll be Froome in a break away rather than Cav in a sprint for the road race gold?

I haven't seen the road race course...it can't be too hilly unless it's way out of London.  IIRC the course in Athens was very technical, whereas the one in Sydney was largely flat with relatively few sharp corners.  Don't remember Beijing (other than the smog).

west London to City Airport during rush hour would be amusing (if not particularly Olympian)

looks like they are sticking to the more leafy photogenic parts of south London:

That Box Hill part is interesting...something like 9 circuits in the mens race.

They're cheap and sometimes even FREE! on Craigslist. People get tired of hanging their laundry on them....

Dang it. My front shifter broke on the way home today. The tension spring inside the shifter gave out (about 5 miles into the 15 mile trip) and I had to spend the rest of the trip holding the shifter in place - keeping the derailleur from going where ever it felt like. Which was somewhere between the small and medium sprocket on the front....

Picks for Saturday, other than Cavendish?

Slovakia is only allowed to send Sagan, so it will be interesting to see how he does without support.  greipel has Tony Martin & 2 others, while Spain, USA, Australia, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland, and Netherlands have full 5 man teams, I think.

Kind of hoping for Luis Leon Sanchez or one of the Belgian classics guys.  Australia looks stocked, too.  Goss probably is 2d choice to Cavendish.

No radios.

Besides craigslist, I'd check thrift stores. People really hate exercise equipment.
