Coming back from Spring Training, I had two or three balls I had gotten signatures on so I stopped at a card shop and picked up some of those anti-UV ray ball cases for display. I got home and sat on them for a day or two before finding the time to start transferring the balls to the cases.
So I was doing the transfer and I took a case out of the bag and I noticed it had a little weight to it. I opened it up and was shocked to find no case inside, but a baseball. On the baseball was an old-time Pittsburgh Pirates logo and the autograph of shortstop Gene Alley. Alley wasn't a world beater, but he was steady and a 2X All Star selection, 1971 World Series Champion and 2X Gold Glover.
It is 100% real and 100% weird I'd find this in a baseball case box by itself. I have no idea how this happened or why.
But I am not complaining.
