Esmailyn Gonzalez Update

Started his major league career in GCL Nationals.  In 31 at bats, Emailyn has 14 hits, 11 RBis and has scored 10 runs.  Wow!

I may be jumping the gun with this comment a bit.  I think that Gonzalez should stay at GCL for another week or two, if he can sustain what he has been doing in that time period, then I think calling him up to Vermont would be useless.  With the performances he has been putting in, I think a promotion to Hagerstown would be in order.  If things don't go well for him there, the option of moving him back to Vermont always would remain on the table.  With a guy like Smiley, I think we have to challenge him a bit and keep him on that fast track.  Neither guys at Vermont or Hagerstown are solidified in their spots (Arias and Lozada, respectively) and can easily be moved for a guy that is projected to one day be the starting SS for our major league team.

'06 I believe. There is something wrong with signing 16 year old kids. If the kid went to work for Burger King he's have to have a work permit and his hours would be restricted.
