Dibble said some runners feel stealing third is easier than stealing first.

Bump.

On the line drive to Desmond - couldn't he have dropped the ball, stepped on second and thrown to 1B for a double play?

Is there an infield fly rule on line drives?

I would assume it runs counter to instinct.  Not to mention it'd be a risky thing to try.

Bob: "I did not!"

:dibbs: "I know, I just made it up"

There's no infield fly on line drives, also there needs to be guys on 1st AND 2nd for the infield fly rule to take effect

As for why he didn't drop the ball on purpose, you have to ask him. It's a risky move to attempt to turn a DP, and the odds of turning two in that situation are very low.

Every time they announce Desmond's name at home I picture hammonds jumping up and down and screaming like a girl with a crush.

On a Pogo stick

NOOK MORGAN 3 for 3 for my WNFF fantasy team tonight,

BUT HE's THROWN OUT STEALING AGAIN!!

I think he's been caught 5 out of his last 7 attempts.

SOMEBODY NEEDS TO COACH HIM UP!!!!

I wasn't around earlier when this was asked but the answer as to whether there is an infield fly rule on line drives is no. Also, the umpires have discretion to determine if it was done intentionally on a play that could easily be made with a reasonable effort. If they determine that, then they call dead ball and rule the batter out with the runner remaining on 1B. The way to get around that is to let the ball drop without it hitting the glove but that can't be done on a line drive.

That little slide move Nyjer did was plush-tastic.  Too bad it didn't help.

All the speedsters have a high caught stealing ratio. When you're going to run, you're going to get caught.
