They had a major fluke first month of the season and have gone into the tank since then.

Everyone has to play the readjustment game after awhile.  Im glad that McCatty is up to
hopefully walk them thru it.

This week, Kasten, the voice of the franchise, insisted that: "We are closer than most people think. Our offense is fixed. We are going to be even more active in this next offseason than we were last offseason.

"But the thing that lets me sleep at night is on this paper."

Kasten held up a scrap with a long list of young Nats pitchers, including Jordan Zimmermann, John Lannan, Ross Detwiler, Shairon Martis, Craig Stammen, Scott Olsen and Collin Balester, as well as Stephen Strasburg, whom the Nats will draft with the No. 1 overall pick next week.

"This game is about starting pitching," Kasten said. "There is a quality rotation here on this list. We need to find out which ones they are."
Our offense isn't "fixed", Stan. We have a few pieces but that's it.

this is going in my sig, with the date of the article. and it's gonna stay there. so that no one forgets and has to go back and look this up during any cheap lerner arguments this offseason.

They can almost be more active by default. It's like declaring yourself more active than in the past after banging your first chick.

I would say the offense is adequate at this point.  It's certainly not the first thing that needs to be addressed.

Unfortunately, the DEFENSE is bad, which means that the very position players who are hitting well cannot be allowed to stay on the team.

We have a lot of issues to address regarding the offense in the near future. NJ is a FA in months. Guzman and Dunn will be FA's after next season. Dukes has injury issues. Will Flores remain healthy long enough to be counted on? We are going to have a lot of holes soon. I hope they are ready and willing to deal some prospects for position players and to open up that war chest to sign some FA's or we're going to have a nice up and coming rotation with a weak offense.

I can't imagine us being any better next year.

2011 looks like our first realistic chance to compete, unfortunately.

Not tonight.
2 runs scored in a 1-game doubleheader, 9 runs allowed.

So, we're like 4-19 in the last 23 games?

hahaha just like that after winning tuesday night, no game last night and two pathetic losses today.

the inexperienced and laid back acta gets to keep his job, the pathetic lerner family are still in place and our front office still holds a president that invites other teams fans down and we don't even have a full-time GM.  just another beautiful day in natstown.  14-38.

Listening to the postgame on the internet...holy smokes the vitriol being spewed...I can't tell if the hosts are annoyed with the callers or if they're trying to defend management and just can't anymore or what.
