I expect this to be a recurring pattern.  He'll initially struggle a bit then catch fire and dominate until he moves up to the next level.  Rinse, repeat.

Agreed.

Good news on Hague:

Oh happy day! Hague's my guy. If he gets this defense thing down, he's a top prospect in all baseball. BTW Is it just me, or does Smoker look like Donnie Darko?

From the game recap from tonights Chiefs game:

Quote
Mock walked four straight batters in the third inning to give Pawtucket a 1-0 lead early. In the fourth, he gave two more Red Sox base on balls before being relieved by lefthander Matt Chico with the bases loaded. Two more runs scored before Chico forced Lars Anderson to ground out and end the inning.

But I'll bet his bullpen sessions were spectacular.

they noted in the Post today that Harper struggled so bad in his first few weeks of JuCo that he thought about quitting and going back to high school, then he caught fire and became player of the year.

Marrero with 2 HR in AAA, today.

Great news, he hasn't blown anyone's doors off, but he does keep getting better at each increasing level.

Remember Larry Broadway? Yeah, me neither. Marrero actually has a chance at a major league career.

Jim (Washington): Tom Milone a young Jamie Moyer? Is that something you'd project for any pitcher?

Kevin Goldstein: No no no and a thousand times no. KG edict #32192 Do not, EVER EVER EVER comp a player to Jamie Moyer. There are 20,000 lefties with Jamie Moyer's stuff on a pure scouting level, and one Jamie Moyer. Don't do it. No Maddux comps, and no Bo Jackson comps either.

What a stupid question

Charlie (Bethesda, MD): Chris Marrero's off to a hot start, and it's kinda hard for me to believe he's only 22. He was the top prospect for the Nats like 4 years ago. What should we make of his early AAA success?

Kevin Goldstein: He could totally turn into a second-division starter type.

Sounds about right. Marrero capable of 20 HRs and decent BA in the Bigs. Needs to increase power to around 30 HRs to be legit 1B stud

Hamonds, you have to be encouraged by Hood's start in Potomac.

The power still isn't there but the approach at the plate has gotten much better which is everything.

8/24 with 2 Doubles, 1 Triple, 2 RBIs, 7 BBs, 6 Ks, 0 SBs, 0 CS.
