Boone needs playing time.  Bench Zimmerman.

1 pitch out for Willie.  We've only had 1 hit in our last 7 innings.

the heart of our order is batting .563 combined - the heart of the mets order is hitting .887, that's .324 better than the Nats. Aint that pathetic. Tonight's lineup is even sadder than last nights. Manny has rested NickJ and Milledge - but no way do you rest Ausome Austin Kearns. He's hitting .205 and after tirading the whole day about how Kearns should be batting 8th (and 9th when Redding is pitching) tonight he is batting 4th. way to go Manny

8th batter, leadoff single and a well execuited bunt by the Mets. I guess that's how fundamental baseball is played.

Milledge: Late scratch

The original lineup had Lastings Milledge in center field and batting fifth.

The one I posted here, and one that was up in the clubhouse at the end of the batting practice, had Willie Harris in center.

A club spokesman checked with Manny Acta after the clubhouse closed. He said there's no injury, and he has no answer now, but we should ask after the game.

So that's what we'll do. Getting more interesting around here all the time

from nationals journal.

I don't like the sound of this......

Gotta get ahead of Castillo here. If he goes down 1-0, Castillo will know what's coming.

Edit: Guess not. Castillo just watches everything these days.

Reyes is an overrated player.

Nats take Note - the Mets got a leadoff single from their #8 hitter and now have a man on 3rd with 2 outs. Reyes made out but at least he moved the runner over.

and now its 1-0. and note, if Reyes didnt move him to 3rd, there's no way that Casonova scores on that hit.

We need to get a guy on w/ 0 outs first.

awful.  Giving up a hit to the #8 hitting catcher kills us.  Our inability to get the bottom of the lineup hitters out is a major problem.  We essentially gave up another hit to a crappy hitter in Castillo too. He has batted 8th much of the season.

sounds like Milledge was originally schedule to start, and was benched for showing up late.

from the Times:

Quote
Late lineup change for the Nats: Lastings Milledge, who was penciled in as the No. 6 hitter and starting center fielder, has been scratched and replaced by Willie Harris, who will now bat seventh (with Aaron Boone, starting for Nick Johnson, bumped up to sixth).

Still awaiting word from the club on what caused the change, but this may have nothing to do with baseball or health. Milledge arrived in the clubhouse this afternoon right at 4 p.m., which was the listed time for all players to be on the field for pregame stretch. This wasn't the first time Milledge has reported late, or close to late, so this could be a disciplinary thing.

We just can't manufacture runs.  And we have no power at all.

Has him down 0-2 and then walks him.  Just like last night this game is essentially ruined because our starting pitcher failed to retire the #8 hitter.

but st claire is the best pitching coach. I wonder if they even have a scouting report on him.

You can't expect to get them out every time. Casanova had a good hit. Hill was down 1-0, and Casanova knew he'd be throwing a strike. It was just a good AB. These guys do know how to swing the bat. Shoot, even Nieves gets a hit from time to time.

Calm down, we have Zimm 2.15 batting 3rd and Austin .203 Kearns batting cleanup. Followed by Wily .143 Pena batting 5th. GO NATS!!!
