Available as in released - sleeping in the clubhouse.

They said he won't be released, who knows, but no thanks if this was 1998 or hell even 2005 I'd take him but not now. He wouldn't come here anyways. The more and more I look at who is available and what it will cost the more I like and would be willing to take a chance on Church. I think we could get him for next to nothing, compared to what it will take for DeJesus because of both of their perceived value rather than actual value.

I kept seeing quotes and clicking the link to go back to them...  instead being taken to the first page of the thread.  Couldn't find these mystery quotes anywhere.  Finally dawned on me.

All of those numbers are from the majors.

1) Not sure about his D in RF, he has played all three OF positions but it doesn't look like he has played much RF (if any) since 08. Mostly LF, a little 1B and some DH (yes he plays in the AL)

2) He did miss some time to injury and has gotten some inconsistent playing time. He is an above average defender.

3) He is also an above average defender, for the sake of argument he is on par with #2.
CJ - i saw your post with the names as I was scrolliing down, but I would have put Church last, probably DeJesus first, and Scott in the middle.  The latter two are close in my mind because I don't think Scott is as bad defensively as his reputation.

Can Ka'aihue play OF? Seems like he'd be a big upgrade in the offensive department.

I thought he is one of those not athletic enough to have a position guys that htey are tyring at first as Best Buddy to Billy B.  Kila would fit in more if we were not going to bring back Dunn :stir:

Instead of DeJesus... why not just pick up Gordon instead?

They moved him to OF in the minors and they clearly don't think he's going to be a player for the team... so why not pry him away for some trinket that Dayton will find shiny.

Guzman/Flores/ and a 2nd tier pitching prospect for either Gordon or DeJesus.

Hmmm...I don't think the Royals want to let him go just yet.  Plus he's been working in left for the specific reason that it's the easiest of the 3 outfield positions.  Supposedly he's been taking well to the position, but he has zero experience in right.  I think he'd fit in well with the culture Rizzo's trying to cultivate but I don't think he solves the problem for us this year.  I think if he stays in the OF, he's not all that different from Willingham, maybe a little more speed.  I do think it would be good for him to get out of KC though.  Right now, I'd take DeJesus over Gordon.

As would I... but Gordon would be another building piece for the future. Someone who I believe still has a lot of talent left in him.

I just don't understand KC to be honest. Chris Getz is not going to be a better player than Gordon... there's really no reason he should be on the club over him. Same goes for some of the other randoms in the KC IF.

Gordon isn't any good. He is basically Elijah Dukes without the issues.

Chuck James for Gordon straight up would be a Moore-like trade.

Actually, Rick James for Gordon would be a Moore-like trade at this point.

Draft, immediately sign and  put Bryce Harper in right field.     ;)

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

...Gordon does have first base experience and could step in for Dunn if they don't want to resign him.  Selfishly, I'd LOVE to have AG in the organization.

Any chance we could get Grady Sizemore from Cleveland?

Anyone see Crawford's catch last night? Amazing.

I'm still not sure if I want us to go after him or Werth.

that was the 2nd best play i've seen this year (behind Buerhle's toss to 1st)

Do not want. He's regressed every year before our eyes. Choo would be the much better option.

This is not a joke.  He's supposed to be athletic enough to be a CF.  I just don't know if he could hit major league pitching better than JMax right now.

The question is though, could he be any worse?

I really wasn't joking.

Our RF platoon is currently "hitting" .159.  There are pitchers who hit better than that.  It can't get any worse.
