Feel bad for Lidge. Really wanted this to work out here. Who knows, maybe he'll get a September callup (if he actually gets sent to AAA) and we'll see if he's still worth anything.

He did come back early from his rehab. I have to wonder if that played a role

Yep. I also have to wonder why they weren't more patient with him. He's had some good outings this year. I wouldn't have pulled the plug so soon. Maybe a few more days.

You're forgetting that he was awful before he went on the DL as well.  He just didn't have it anymore.

My hunch is that the Nats were so eager to fill the RP hole left by HRod that they allowed Lidge to return before he was sharp. Lidge is a pro, a hard-worker. Maybe he's got something left, and can find it in AAA.

He hasn't been as bad as his numbers show.  He really needs to hold runners on better to be effective, though.  Wish him the best and I doubt this is the end of his ML career.
