I would think in this case that the perceived quality of the brand does not match the actual (higher) quality of the single product, but I'm not going to defend either the laptops since I can't personally vouch for them. Just slurped them off my subscription.
Also I try not to rely on judgement by brand as my friend got an Asus laptop (which, at least where we are, are regarded as a very nice brand) that was designed INSANELY poorly for it's designed use
There were lots of vents in the back to keep the computer cool, but they got blocked whenever you opened the screen, resulting in a very VERY hot, and sometimes slow, machine.
