The Nationals placed right-hander Jason Bergmann on the 15-day disabled list on Friday, retroactive to Tuesday, with right elbow inflammation. They are expected to purchase the contract of left-hander Mike Bacsik from Triple-A Columbus on Saturday. Bacsik will get the start against the Orioles that same day.
In order to place Bacsik on the 40-man roster, the Nationals transferred reliever Luis Ayala from the 15- to the 60-day DL.
