True, but he looks like he is ready for High A ball now.

Nah. no chance. But this is pretty encouraging to see him come back strong from TJ. Next season is when he should really take off and hopefully take a leap into the Top 20 prospects in baseball.

My hunch (never right, however), is he starts season in "Hagersburg" and does second half at Potomac. Pitches his 160 innings recovery year. Then splits season at the real Harrisburg and Syracuse.

Is Ray, Solis, Cole are really good (plus Jordan and Karns?), no reason to rush Little Gio.

No chance he goes 160 next year.

I think he's more on the Cole/Ray plan.

Iirc, they opened their first full season in extended spring training, in part to limit their innings. With Giolitos ~40innings this year is the most in the past 2 years for him, so they'll be more cautious. 160 after TJ isn't the standard, at least not for a HS kid coming without any experience coming even close to that (maybe not even half, don't know his junior year totals off hand).

My guess is extended sprinf training to start, and about a 100 inning cap. Maybe he starts at Hagerstown, but still in the 100 inning territory imo. Any promotion to Potomac would take at least half the season imo, and won't impact the inning limit.

Giolito to Auburn Doubledays. Pretty surprising considering that the GCL team is playoff bound but it seems like they're setting him up to start 2014 in a full season league.

His Dad tweeted this morning that he (dad) was headed to NY 'to see something special'.  Maybe Lucas is pitching tonight?

Yea, 160 seems kind of high. Can't imagine he went over 100 in high school. Figure about 85 easy innings. I'd say 120-130 is more of a reasonable goal in a recovery year. Heck, even if he topped out at 100, that would be fine.

2015 he can got 140 - 150
2016 he can be the number 5 starter and go 180, max.
2017 and beyond, he's unleashed at the age of 22.

Looked at their web site.  Someone else slated to start tonight.  No one listed yet as starter for Tuesday so maybe then?

He last pitched on the 13th. It should be today.

I think Mattheus said the same thing when he saw him on his rehab.

Apparently a scout in attendance said that he looked like he should be pitching in double-A right now.

I don't think we see him until 2016 earliest. They'll slow play him, and I am fine with that.

Protect the shoulder. He will be a future stud.

By the time Strasburg signs a long term deal with the Padres/Dodgers, Giolito should be close to ready to replace him.
