Good...I'm not the only one who thought this.  Carp's call was really bad.  How does he get so excited about routine fly balls, but yet his call of this homerun was so lackluster?

I gotta sympathize a little bit, on Harper's hit out to right last night I started singing Bustin Loose, I thought it was going to hit the upper deck, then all the sudden the outfielder is throwing the ball in and Bryce is standing on second.

Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 15th win, each season:

2012 - 2nd May (24th match of season)
2005 - 4th May (28th match)
2010 - 6th May (28th match)
2011 - 6th May (32nd match)
2008 - 8th May (35th match)
2007 - 17th May (41st match)
2006 - 20th May (43rd match)
2009 - 2nd June (51st match)

...I'VE MISSED DOING THESE!

Too bad the Nats can't qualify for the playoffs based on out performing their past records.

Off topic.

I'm going to the game tomorrow and want to bring a beach ball or two.

Take a cell phone and call during the game.    It's the same effect.    :)

He is so much better than Carpenter at calling deep flies. Carp had no idea.

great point.  all the fly balls that crappy thinks are outta there, are cans of corns.  he's not good.

Someone bring a Rob Dibble careboard cutout to a game one day.  It wouldn't make sense, but the hilarity of seeing it for the first time would be worth it.  :dibbs:

ladson, he's batting .267 ... who has he shut up?  if he finishes the year with decent numbers (.275 AVG, 15 HR, 75 RBI, 25 SB), then we can maybe talk.  let's see him raise his OBP and play error-free baseball before saying his critics shouldn't have to worry.  damn.

but at the same time, I wouldn't go the PA route and say he ran into one.

Not sure how this shuts up his haters.  A lot of average players have hit walkoff home runs.

exactly.  in fact we all thought that ball was landing, he scorched it.  upton played it right (dbacks scouting as usual, good work), it didn't drop.

then flores and espinosa had two of their usual AB's couldn't even put wood on the ball.
Desmond's walk-off HR doesn't excuse Davey's terrible managing in the last few innings, well that and our terrible offense. Neither Espinosa nor Nady should be getting starts at this point.

i'm not talking about that, i was referring to that one inning.

at this point all i care about is a win is a win ...

and once zim gets back, i think you have to play lombardozzi over espinosa.  as far as nady, i completely agree ... just try out moore there.

Announced attendance 16,274 - smallest ever for a Nats Park visit by the Diamondbacks, and third-lowest overall this season.

Should perhaps be a tiny bit bigger tonight, with no competition from the Caps and a promo on (drawstring backpack to first 20k through gate) - weather expected to be a bit warmer (topping off at 81) but still 20-30% chance of rain.

A longtime seat-mate of mine told me there were no $5 cans of Miller Lite/Coors Lite available on the Scoreboard Walk during pre-match, as of 18.15 (didn't go by there myself last night) - if so, lame. I'm still waiting for them to get the Pilsner Urquell cans back in there...the Red Loft has a nice view but the beer selection really isn't all that.

i had a great time last night.  spent most of it in the OF with some of my buddies and CMD.  it was a nice night, good win, i thought the crowd was into it ... and the $1 hot dogs were pretty tasty.

He's not really a good fielder. YET. Great arm... but he fell over on a routine fly ball.

I think he'll be a great fielder... but you have to remember he was a former catcher just learning the position... still, he's so raw, no way he'll get or deserve a GG this year.

That's his fielding weakness right now, he's not familiar with how the ball reacts off the bat when he's in center particularly.  That shot last night broke back towards him which an experienced outfielder would have anticipated.  On the other hand, however, he's got nice speed and is fearless, at least until he Ryan Churches the wall making a catch.

He's already crashed into a wall making a catch.

i think he also has a problem with the lights.  don't get me wrong, i think linty/tt have a great point in that he's having trouble reading it off the bat ... but one of the biggest differences between MLB ballparks and minor league ones are the banks of lights.  tons more at the big league level.

Right.  Buy your Dogfish Head brown ale down below in the Porch bar, then head up.

Yeah, it seemed that both Harp and Werth had problems with the lights last night.

Good night to be at the ball park though.

Because right now Tracy is a better option (offense and defense) than Espinoa.

When Zimm comes back sure, let Lombo take over. But right now? Hell no don't bench him.
