A good post by Lintyfresh85 about how Fantasy Baseball works: http://www.wnff.net/index.php/topic,21306.msg693330.html#msg693330

Rosters we are voting for:

Other League Settings
8 playoff teams (will change debating on how many players join). Lineup changing is daily but locks at gametime. Trade deadline is July 29th.

Future Notes:
A poll/discussion for how free agency works.

If not enough people vote (looking for at least 5 votes per poll to overturn a rule) then settings will revert to default.

Past Winners

HTT - 2010

One way to reduce the league sizes is to have a WNFF Head to Head league that's separate from a WNFF Rotisserie league.  I have little interest in a Rotisserie league... even though I might have won it or did well, when we tried it on WNFF several years ago.  It's almost like playing solitare, and it becomes too difficult for many mangers to move up, so they quit.

"Scoring explained: Each week, opponents face off in a Head to Head manner. There will be 10 categories (as listed above) that the opponents will be competing against. At the end of the week the team with the best in each category will be awarded a point. The team with the most points at the end of the week receives the win."

I liked using OBP instead of BA last year.  The ONE thing I'd change is eliminate the Winner Take All scoring for each weekly matchup.  If the result in the 10 categories is 6-4-0 or 5-5-0 or 2-3-5, then THAT should be the final score, not 1-0 and 0-1 for each manager for that week.

We used that scoring in Head to Head several years ago in a WNFF league.  The effect is to punish quitters, those who stop managing their teams, as their rosters grow with more and more players on the DL each week.  But those managers can still get lucky and win a week, based almost entirely on the initial draft.  (good pitching, closers, steals, etc.) But the Quitters are unlikely to get an 8-2 victory on the 10 categories.  By using their 6-4 win instead of 1-0, it doesn't penalize those who are actually participating.

With 26 weeks in the baseball season, if someone is just going to draft a team and then ignore it, they shouldn't sign up at all.  Managing a fantasy team is like checking your email once per day.  Just see if someone's gone on the DL, and move pitchers from your bench to starting when they get their starts.  Keep an eye on Free Agents who are outperforming the players on your roster.  Recognizing rising and declining talent, and acting on it, is what makes Fantasy Baseball fun.  (I grabbed Ryan Braun out of free agency when he was a rookie, after he hit 2 HRs in the same game against the Nationals.)

HalfSmokes has already set up a WNFF Rotisserie league in the other thread.  Are you now setting up a WNFF Head to Head league?  Is so, that's why I don't think you'll 16 or more participants in either one.  You might get 10 in each.

I'm interested in Head to Head

You probably still have my email from the WNFF NFL fantasy league.

I didn't see that you did sorry. I've started the past three years so I was assuming I'd do it again.

Anyway, I'll go ahead and make a H2H league then but I do have 8 so far.

Yeah I have everyone's email from last year but just wanted to make sure that I get people's interest first before I send then an email asking about it.

Also, I won't do winner takes all.

I have also updated the poll to DAYS that the draft can be. Then when we vote on the day, we can vote on the time afterwards. I'm fine for anyday that isn't this sunday.

Not sure why the poll closed (maybe I set it to that yesterday but I can't change it now). I guess draft will be on Monday?

Anyway,

We have a person on waiting - JMUalumni, so if anyone else is interested let me know.

"Roster Locktime: Weekly - Lock at First Game of Week
Lineup Locktime: Weekly - Lock at First Game of Week"

I'm pretty certain we had Daily - Lock at First Game of Day for at least the last 4 years.  I think Weekly means that if the Cubs play a day game Monday, your roster is stuck for the whole week, if you didn't move starting pitchers or anyone else by then.  Your whole week is ruined.  That happened the first year WNFF had a Head to Head league and everyone hated it, and it affected outcomes.  About one manager got burned every week.

It especially affects starting pitchers, and the ability to fix lineups when someone goes on the DL.  We should be able to set a new lineup every day, to replace players on travel days and for any other reason. Roster Locktime matters, since lineups are often not announced until an hour or 2 before a game.

ESPN: When do league settings lock?
The table below details the time in the season which particular league settings lock and can not be edited.

    * League Setup = These settings can not be changed after you confirm your league settings.
    * Draft = These settings can only be edited before the league's draft begins.
    * Season Start = These settings can only be edited before the season starts.
    * Playoff Start = These settings can only be edited before the league's playoffs begin (H2H Only).
    * End of Season = These settings can be edited throughout the full season.
    * Never = These setting can be changed at any time during the season.

ROSTER LOCK-TIMES
The league creator decides when an individual roster slot will lock. For example, if you have it set up to lock at individual game time [i.e. what we've used before], you have up until the player's scheduled game time to place him in the slot.  [I'm not sure if you'd have to clase & restart the league to fix this.]

LINEUP LOCKTIMES:
The league creator decides when team rosters lock. If your league has it set up to lock at first game of the match-up i.e.Week, then all free agents/waivers you pick up mid-week will not score any points for your roster until the following week. The league creator may change the Lineup locktime settings up until one hour prior to the draft. Lineup locktimes may NOT be modified once the league has drafted.
