Honestly, that's why I like him as a bench bat. I don't think 7-7 is representative of his full season numbers

Morse is showing the ability to adapt to what pitchers are doing to him quickly.  I'm more and more in favor of him as 1B, Hammer in LF and signing someone like Huff to platoon with them both while making a big money chase for Werth in RF.

Solid but not superstar numbers. I'd like an elite hitter in RF.

What about him as the starting 1B... I'm worried that's where the Nats are going next year.

Thanks. Sounds good on the radio, but not the full picture. What's his pitch count and # of strikes?

That'd be terrible.

What Cannons suggests isn't bad but I don't like guys moving around that much and I don't like Huff's character.

You could clean house on the bench except for Morse and Alberto and still be in good shape. I am in favor of this.

Give an actual reason why.  Let's take 7 games in a week.  Morse starts 5 at 1B, Hammer starts 5 in LF, Huff starts 4 split between the two spots.  He gives the LHB off the bench when he's not starting etc.  Werth automatically upgrades the offense and defense.  We also get the picks for Dunn.  That's better short and long term.

Yep.  Eliminating the BB is a major plus for him.  He's still given up 5 hits through 4 with only 2 K's, but the DP and 0 BB is saving his ass.  He's solidly on the tightrope today and doesn't look like he'll fall off this time.

PA I think we have our wires crossed or something.  I didn't like that Nyjer veered into a catcher that wasn't making any play two feet inside the plate.  I know the rules of baseball(what could Anderson have done that was wrong?).  I also know that you don't go after a player/catcher unless it is necessary.  Nyjer continues to show a lack of baseball IQ over and over.  If you dont think Nyjers move last night was a classless move..fine..then Pojuls should have run over Lannan just a moment ago.

Ok first. It's not better short term. If you re-sign Dunn, and add Werth, you've already got more production than what you propose. Unless you're saying after dumping Guzman's 8 million dollars the team doesn't have 25-30 million to spend, which they should.

Second, Huff is three years older than Dunn, Werth is a year older. So, when they're breaking down in 3 years, especially Huff... and Dunn is going strong... will it still be better? Of course not.

He's having an on day. The singles don't matter. He and Marquis are the same pitcher in the mirror - it's eerie.

You know why he's succeeding? He's not throwing that lame two seamer that gets smacked around. He's throwing a straight fastball.

Just like someone once proposed he do...

That's what I was saying from the start, you and I know the rules, Nyjer ADMITTED yesterday that he doesn't. If the catcher is off the plate, he doesn't have the ball. It's Nyjer's lack of fundamentals and nothing intentional. You and I are on the same page, I believe.

Kennedy is about a 10,000 time better leadoff hitter than Nyjer ever was.

How long had he been throwing the two seamer before?

2 of the hits were bloopers. I'd call that unlucky. The one Wil Nieves could've gotten too and the one over Desmonds head. So far he's pitching like a guy who wants to stay around.

Same page yes.  Nyjer not having baseball IQ and sticking around(I know-Nats no one else to play)the majors bothers me.  Not being an above average hitter/outfielder, not knowing the rules and low baseball IQ are not going to help the Nats improve.

Is it me or does Carpenter always suck up to the opponent ... especially the Cubs and Cards?    They're so savvy, smart, etc.
