Marlon Byrd trade to Red Sox goes thru

Welcome aboard the Titanic, Mr. Byrd.

Kind of mysterious how he dropped 40 lbs this offseason.  Must be a better diet.  Has hit .230 since Aceves beaned him last June.

He's doing his SF imitation in hopes that his prediction has the reverse jinx.  :lmao:  On the positive side I see fewer and fewer phony sawks fans at drinking establishments.

From Elias Says

Quote

DUNN SETS STRIKEOUT RECORD

From Elias: Adam Dunn went 1-for-4 with one RBI in the White Sox' victory at Seattle, but it was his first-inning strikeout that caught our attention. Dunn became the first player to strike out at least once in each of his team's first 15 games of a season since they began tracking strikeouts for individual batters in 1910. Dunn surpassed the mark of Howie Gross, who whiffed in each of Houston's first 14 games in 1963.

Strip out the front runners.  I've 45 years in this thing, so I'll be with them regardless, but it does give me the right to jab at them.

Not really on either point.  Byrd has been a guy who hired a trainer from BALCO so there has been rumors.  It's like Pudge losing weight.  It's got to be acknowledged as a point to be skeptical about. I like Byrd, have wanted him on either of my teams, but had lost track of his fall off since June.  I can see why he was picked up, and I now see why he might have been avoided.  As for fewer fans, depends on the bar, I guess.  People still ask for the games to be on.

Nyjer Morgan has been benched in Milwaukee - he's only had 5 singles in 42 ABs this season (.119).  His OBP and SLG are also .119.

Lol, apparently so. And as noted, Dunn Ked tonight, so the new record is 16, two more than the one that stood for almost a half century.

Dumbass should have been benched after he ran through a plain, obvious stop sign that ended up winning the game about a week ago. Yeah, yeah, he won. Things is, he was tagged out, plain as day, and only got lucky the ump was blind/bet on the brewers to win. This guy should not be playing baseball, he's a headcase, and better suited to hockey as said headcase.

? He got the HR as already noted, so what? I'm as big a backer of Dunn's as they come, so don't take my two posts to be some attack on him. But he's a former player and noted for striking out, and right now he's doing so at a record not matched in baseball history, over a century worth. I think that's worthy of posting, myself. Likewise, if he's hit a HR in 10 consecutive games, I'd be posting it just as quickly.
