Can we all please stop getting a hot start confused with a powerhouse team?  Everyone is pleasantly surprised with the results so far but let's keep in mind it's a very long season and we're not even a month into it.

You are one smart guy. Even the SSS puts the hot start in perspective.

It's possible to have a hot start AND be a powerhouse team.  They're not necessarily mutually exclusive.

Hey, I can stop nagging! We're finally, finally over 50%, nages!!! So now we're guaranteed a playoff spot, right? Hey, at least it's something. We're moving in the right direction percentage wise, and at this rate we might be above 60 by next homestand.

These are the current playoff odds.  The Dodgers are in the process of bending over the Braves in the 9th.  It'll be interesting to see what happens to them after the Dodgers-Braves game ends.

Back on topic: very little mention of the Nats win on ESPN Radio last night - the NFL Draft (understandably since that starts tonight) and The NBA Player Formerly Known As Ron Artest dominated coverage last night, and what little space was given to baseball was taken up by their precious Yankees and Red Sox, and the AL generally. Typical (although the Caps did get a fair bit of air-time, at least by the Worldwide Leader's standards, probably since it was a Baaaaaaaaaaaaahston team they ousted last night).

Those are some pretty big headlines to compete with.  The Caps definitely deserve air time for beating the defending champs on the road in game 7.  Hell, that was the first time I've seen them not lose a big game as soon as I turned the TV on.

As much as I love our start, we're going to have to beat the phillies, braves etc with regularity to get real time espn love.

If we do well during interleague then they'll really take notice

Am I the only who noticed a few days ago on Baseball Tonight after one of our wins, they didn't even show the Nats highlight. At the end of the show they did the top 10 plays and right after that the host said that lots of people complained that there was no highlight of the game and they showed like 1 or 2 play highlight of the game.

Has the SI article about the team already been discussed?

There was about 10 pages about one quote from the article.

it is.

But thats not what is happening with the Nationals.

We aren't a powerhouse team. We are a team that is good enough to beat the lesser teams, but not necessarily good enough to beat the better ones.

The booth covering the Rays/Rangers game have been talking about Harper for a couple minutes now.  Also mentioned the Nats/Phils game in DC that ESPN is airing next Sunday night.

i just tuned in, before getting ready for game of thrones, and it made it sound like they were referring to something he did wrong last night?

or am i totally wrong and they are saying they hope nothing bad happens ...

got ya.  it was a complete accident.  but again the guy is going to attract negative attention for giving an autograph to a 7 year old.

hope he can just ignore it.

Oh they just mentioned how he accidentally bumped the 1B ump.

nag ass Francona was complaining about the way he threw off his helmet on his double last night. Said something to the effect that he's going to need to get the edge knocked off of him. freaking idiot.

On the crawl they have actually noted that he made a leaping catch at the wall.

Also I heard that, as of last night, $2 Tuesday was officially rescinded for this week in anticipation of Harper's home debut.  :lmao:

You're joking right Spider? Did the Lerners really jack up the prices due to the unexpected debut?

Not joking. Someone told me he heard about it because he was planning on going on Tuesday to take advantage of the special.

It's not on nationals.com/specials anymore.  But they always have limited numbers of tickets, so they very well could have sold all of them.
