2 AL Cys and one NL Cy. If you want to disqualify Roidger in 1998, then that 2d for Pedro converts to a first. Should have been MVP in 1999, but had a better year in 2000. He has the best ERA+ of any starter in the modern era, and that was even after his last few scuffling years post rotator cuff problems.
Most awesome game was Game 7 v. the Indians in 1999 (sorry Linty). It was 8 - 8 after 3 innings. Saberhagen and Lowe had gotten shelled, but the Indians Charles Nagy spit the bit and Paul Shuey had let the game get tied. Pedro was hurt (strain, maybe an oblique?) in game 1 and could not throw his fastball, but just with his change up and off speed stuff he did not allow a hit over the last 6 innings. he managed 8 Ks.
Second most awesome performance for me was the 17K, 1 hit, 0BB game against the NYY I think in 2000 or 2001 when the only hit and runner was Chili Davis on a Yankee Stadium HR. This time, he was head to head with Roidger who also was terrific, but I think it was Trot Nixon who beat him in the 9th.
Pedro is my favorite ball player.
