I was playing golf, watched the end on my phone, always had faith in H-Rod :)

Because I wasn't watching, why on earth was detwiler taken out so early given his pitch count was so low and had barely given anything up?

We don't know either

Great win.  Strasburg tomorrow.  This series could get ugly fast for the Marlins.  The days of the Marlins taking series from us at home are over.
Fixed.

Thanks for nothing, N2P.  Mets just tied SF off of Casilla :? ;)

Giants just blew the save against the Mets.  Winning run on third...

We don't know either

From what Phil Wood told me just now, he thinks that Johnson and McCatty might have determined beforehand that they would let him go six if he was dealing.  I guess they're still ramping him up based on his previous outings.  Phil didn't necessarily agree, but it is what it is.  :?:

Winning run for the Mets now on third after a wonderful play by Belt to get the runner at home on a grounder.

Meanwhile, in a bizarre 9th inning, the Giants pull their closer after an infield hit, replacing him with Javier Lopez, who was traded from the Braves (?) to the Yankees for Melky Cabrera, who is playing CF for the Giants. After Lopez blows the save, Giants replace pitchers and the Mets channel shows a commercial with Derek Jeter lifting weights for some car dealer. Giants replacement relief pitcher, Romo, has a giant beard dyed black. This is weird.

It was 1-0 bottom of the 6th with Ross scheduled to lead off. Ross hadn't been used as a starter in ST and on top of that opponents had a .980ish OPS the third time through the line up. Agree with it or not, but it is a call most managers make in April.

Melky: "December 22, 2009: Traded by the New York Yankees with Mike Dunn, Arodys Vizcaino and cash to the Atlanta Braves for Boone Logan and Javier Vazquez"

Aha! Javy Vasquez / Javy Lopez!

Of course, Melky should have been signed to play CF for the Nats...instead, the Royals got him last year.

Stammen very impressive again.  Clippard had two amazing battles with Bonifacio and Hanley.  Henry was up and down - unhittable but wild.

Detwiler was really good.  Ankiel with a few good defensive plays and most of the offense.

Happy that we pulled this one out.  Strasburg tomorrow will hopefully shut them down again.

Too much to ask for the Padres to sweep the Phillies? ...given the Padres have 3 wins this year, it might be.

You need to watch this news, Chief, to see if Casilla is injured. They did bring him in as their closer.  But he only allowed an infield single and was immediately relieved.  He was responsible for the runner on 1st, but he only scored because of the rat bastard RP Lopez:

Bottom of 9th
Santiago Casilla pitching for San Francisco   SF   NYM
S Casilla relieved J Affeldt.
   3   2
B Belt at first base.   3   2
J Bay reached on infield single to shortstop.   3   2
L Duda hit for S Hairston.   3   2
J Lopez relieved S Casilla.   3   2
L Duda flied out to right.   3   2
J Bay to second on wild pitch by J Lopez.   3   2
K Nieuwenhuis walked.   3   2
J Thole singled to right, J Bay scored, K Nieuwenhuis to third.

EDIT: Lopez is a lefty, and the PH who drove in the run bats left, so maybe they were tinkering with that, which is not always a good idea.  You don't mess with your closer's head that way, as we saw with Chad Cordero.  You let him pitch through it.

Giants take the lead in the 10th over the Mutts 4-3!

I hope you aren't already a scorched hole in the ground.

These are not questions for mere mortals to ask.  I cover my eyes and scurry for cover with most pitching changes.

I was playing golf, watched the end on my phone, always had faith in H-Rod :)

Mets get first two batters on base, and collapse. Jason Bay, the boo-collector, strikes out with one out and runners on 2B and 3B. Bobby Ojeda grumbling that Bay, Davis, and Duda left 14 guys on base.

So. The Mets heading toward their natural level?

The 1925 Nats got their 13th win in their 15th game. Won the pennant. I like the parallels. "Never before in my lifetime..."
