For all the nagging and moaning we give Manny/Riggs, Charlie Manuel is a moron. He continues to put Lidge out there night and night again. They are in a playoff hunt, and we're not. I can't understand why he hasn't made a switch yet. I think tonight is the last straw.

Could be orders from the GM. He's paid a LOT. Same thing happened to him in Houston.

Batgirl says:

"tell sportsfan that he can find some dulcolax at the pharmacy"

  I'm sure he would prefer the Zimmerman shaped suppositories.

Yup. Interesting that the Phillies weren't in the Billy Wagner sweepstakes.

they don't have many options. Ryan Madsen is a great set-up man for them but he can't close out games. He already tried earlier this year when Lidge was hurt and he bombed.

He's pulled tomorrow. Losing on a walk-off to the Pirates = instant job loss

You know the best thing about beating the Cubs...Mike Wilbon.

Everything he ever says/writes about the Nationals is said/written with a snark.
Great song.

I'd put Pedro in the pen, but I don't see it happening. Jamie Moyer would be an odd closer choice. lol

Exactly. It was two strikes. He knows he can't hit that. And he knows it is starting inside. If he swings, he misses on what could be an inside pitch (which with his OBP is what most throw him.) If he takes, he has a shot. It was simply a great pitch.

Again, if it had been a ball, that would have just made it a full count so he would have had another pitch anyway.

Yes, it was a great pitch.  It was also a close pitch.  Too close to be taking with first base open, ie no DP and two strikes.

I'm sure Lake was in both (King Crimson and Emerson, Lake and Palmer).

I can't say, I do know Robert Fripp, Michael Giles and Bill Bruford were in King Crimson

RZ is drawing a ton of walks lately.

He now has 57 walks on the season, which is only 4 shy of his career high (61). And there's still 35+ games left to play this season.
