Yep. This is the coversation I'm having elsewhere, including ES.

Green is fine. He's a third line defenseman. Just wish people would stop pretending that he's 2008-2010 Mike Green. If he were, we'd stop pining for a RW1

I wonder who Glencross is going to replace. Laich?
Probably; or maybe they are going to get Sharp and trade Ward for him; then he could replace Ward.  Don't see much of Calgary so don;t know much about Glencross.

Man, if we got Sharp, between him, Holtby, and Wilson, we'd have the most gorgeous hockey team in the world.

Green is like Espinosa  ...   the team thinks they can make them something they're not.

What are they trying to make him. Seems like they are using him as a third pair dman and pp specialist. Which is what he is. Though maybe a second pair dman.

I think the team is trying out carlson on the pp to see if they can live without green...

I think it's telling that he's not on the PP anymore. I mean, he does that sweet pass to Ovi better than anyone. The problem is that that is all he's offering the team. He has no more slap shot. He's not a threat to score from up top anymore. His defensive skills are medicore at best. He is routinely manhandled. His puck handling has declined.

If someone else can figure out how to pass the puck to Ovi just right, Green has nothing to offer this team other than being a third line defenseman. Which I'm not particularly comfortable with, given his salary.

Yeah which is why Green is going to walk when he hits free agency this summer. He's a great guy to have as a third-pairing defenseman, and we won't re-sign him.

It seems to me that if a RW1 is really needed, then a guy like Green is expendable and should be used to facilitate that pickup.

Yeah no one is going to give us a top-line RW for a upcoming UFA defenseman

edit: now, he could be in play for a larger package for a top-flight guy - but i'd be surprised. apparently we're looking at jordan leopold, and if we trade for him or someone like him, green is a goner.

That's what I mean. Say we trade Green to the Wings for a 2nd rounder and we trade Laich for a third. Packages those with a prospect and make a trade for RW1 that, supposedly, is needed.

I'm not really convinced the Caps need to pick up a RW1. I think they just need to let Andre Burakovsky play over there and get used to it.

Burakovsky is fine. But I think a back up plan like glencross is a good idea. If we were to get another top six player, we'd be so freaking deep. A laich burakovsky Wilson fourth line would be sweet. But I keep fearing that chimera will get in the lineup over bura if it came down to it.

Also might need to keep beagle around to get hit with pucks on the pk, but you could promote bura to third line with ward and fehr. That line becomes less shut down but would have some scoring punch

Barry; Andre Burakovsky will be the odd man out "probably to start" with Curtis Glencross' arrival,

I was part of a season ticket plan through some of those years.    Oh man, they were good years and times.

As easy as it is for me to get to VC, Cap Centre was great. Especially when the cigarette smoke collected up at the saddle tips

I saw Prince's "Purple Rain" tour there on 3 (maybe 4) consecutive nights. I'm still buzzed from that experience, and that was all secondhand (and not from cigarettes)
