The rule includes long swings but states that it's a judgment call for the umpire. The umpire made a judgment call there and I had no issue with it.
Did that just say that pitch was 102 mph?
Anyone find it funny they're playing a song about jerking off?
It doesn't include "long swings." A batter can have any type of swing he wants. It only covers a swing made while a player is outside the batters box.
What song is that?
The modifier states it this way:"If a batter strikes at a ball and misses and swings so hard he carries the bat all the way around and, in the umpires judgment, unintentionally hits the catcher or the ball in back of him on the backswing before the catcher has securely held the ball, it shall be called a strike only (not interference). The ball will be dead, however, and no runner shall advance on the play."In my opinion that includes long swings.
