I keep thinking of the '90s Braves. Many seasons of contending based on stellar starting pitching that was put together when they were young.
Please don't bring up the Atlanta Braves. As an old Pirates' fan, I break out in a rash.
What did they win in all that contending ... one WS? IMHO (even though I think shutting SS down is a good idea) "contending" doesn't feed the bull dog.
