I like Davey's reasoning. Leave the guy in - it's only the 6th and he just got a big double play. You can't always be right. By the way he just made the move and Mattheus promptly issued a walk.
some of us believe you cannot automatically go to the pen after 5 innings and 85 pitches and the first sign of trouble in a 2-2 game.
Jesus Christ, this thread is seriously 100% non-stop(Image removed from quote.)
After he gave up back-to-back hits to the 7 and 8 hitters he should have been gone.
This was a winnable game that we're on the verge of losing. That's more than enough to cry about.
Lannan didn't "get" that DP by any stretch of the imagination. Zimm, Espinosa and Morse did.
Yup, a game that we should be leading or at the worst, tied.
If it were "the first sign of trouble" and Lannan hadn't looked absolutely terrible all night, there might be some merit to this reasoning. But Lannan had been extremely lucky to that point not to have any runs score, and pretty much everyone here assumed the wheels were about to fall off.
Lannan is always lucky.
Call me crazy, but I really feel like we are in the race this year. Every game, especially these game one's on road trips feel important.
