I'm a little leery about giving the rook an expanded role in the play off's but he does have some pretty electric stuff. Wouldn't you say Garcia has the highest mph fastball of any of the relievers?

Average fastball, post H-Rod, yes, per fangraphs (95.3).  Storen is close (94.4).  Mattheus and Clip are around 93.

Detwiler is going to become the playoff ace. Like Derek Lowe for the Sox in 2004.

Garcia is really similar in style to K-Rod. Back when K-Rod is good.

It was one game. :smh: While he seems to skew between good and craptastic you have to appreciate a guy who befuddles PECOTA.

His last one was a stinker, particularly if you were like me expecting a clinch and a victory, but it hardly invalidates his value or the consistency of his results. Don't tell Hammonds but I don't really blame him either. ;)

I appreciate Lannan but I am just hoping Davey will use him properly. :nervous:

Edwin Jackson....he pounds the strike zone but I just think too many of his balls are hittable. Does he lead the staff in gopher balls?
Jordan Zimmerman....has better stuff than Jackson but he still has the melt down inning that costs dearly if the Nats aren't hitting well that day.

I know that we will rely on these guys but I really have more confidence in Detwiler than either of them.

As far as the bullpen goes, they have been up and down a lot the last couple months....they all make me nervous!

My fears were born out about Zimmerman, I'm hoping like he'll I'm wrong about Jackson.

None of them - Nats pitchers were lucky in 75 of their 98 wins.

I wouldn't blame anyone if they're nervous every time Edwin Jackson takes the mound.  You never know what you're going to get with him.

B-R stats for Jackson v. the current Cards roster.

He had a rough September following a good August.  ERA worse than FIP by 2 runs.  A huge BABIP spike will do that for you.  He pitched like a 3d/ 4th starter this year.  Maybe his best outing was 8/30 at home v. St. L.  I'll take a repeat (8IP, 1R, 0ER, 10K, W).

Handles it as well as about every other starter has handled it so far.
