No clue. I can make an inquiry but I fully expect the traditional baseball non-answer answer

He missed last season with a shoulder injury. I just hope he hasn't had a set back. And I really hope it isn't because Bergmann's on the roster.

Leonard Davis left the game when Stephen Strasburg was pulled.  Either a double switch or he is getting bumped up to AAA-Syracuse to replace Roger Bernadina (which I think is the reason).  If so good for Davis

Harrisburg sweeps the Double Header.

Chris Marrero went 2/3 with a Double, HR, and 5 RBIs and Danny Espinosa drew 4 walks in the second game to lead the Sens to a 7-6 victory.

Harrisburg's pen is money.

Drew Storen: 0.96 ERA
Adam Carr: 0.82 ERA
Hassan Pena: 0.79 ERA
Victor Garate: 0.96 ERA

Any chance that Marrero or Espinosa make it to the bigs this year?

I give Marrero zippo (still won't have a good line even after tonight's monster effort), but Espinosa has a shot at a September call-up.

I have a feeling Marrero is going to have a solid May and boost his numbers.  I'm very interested to see if he can get his power numbers up and what kinda pressure he'll put on the front office on whether or not to extend Dunn.  If Marrero has a phenomenal year and Dunn is just so-so, then you have a tough decision.

As for Espinosa, I would like to see him get some innings over at second.  I think Desmond will succeed up here (or at least show the Nats brass he's a major leaguer whatever role and whatever position it may be).

I do agree Danny has a better shot at seeing DC this season more so than Chris.

 I'm amazed at Harrisburg's bullpen numbers. Any of them, aside from Storen, have a shot at AAA soon?

Whatever it was, he's back

Off the DL and Michael Guerrero to extended spring

I liked Guerrero when I saw him in the NYPL. Low ceiling?

Spradlin isn't exactly setting the world on fire.

Hammonds, I agree about Marrero.  Might have a nice May.  I still don't know if he'll do enough this year at AA.  He's always very streaky in the minors.

Jeff Kobernus to the DL and Dan Lyons, who is working his way back from injury, takes his place on the Suns roster.

I listen to a few minor league games a week when time permits me to.  Today, I listened to the Hagerstown-Augusta (SF) game and here were a few observations I picked up on from the game.

-  First and foremost, the game was extremely close until there was horrible decision made by the Augusta manager in the 7th inning.  With one out and Eury Perez on 3rd and Francisco Soriano on second, Augusta intentionally walked Sean Nicol.  The next batter, Steven Souza, with a full count hit a single to drive in Perez.  Then with Justin Bloxom batting, the pitcher for Augusta threw a wild pitch scoring Soriano.  Bloxom then hit a bases clearing single, followed by an RBI double by JP Ramirez.  All and all, the decision costed them 5 runs and the game.

-  The Suns were going up against Zach Wheeler, the 6th overall pick in last year's draft, and got 4 hits and one run off of him over 4.2 innings.  He struck out 4 batters, but also gave up the same amount of walks.  The Suns worked the count against him all night, getting him into deep counts often.

-  Paul Demny was on the mound for the Suns.  His fastball causes a lot of hitters to swing and miss and he could be considered a power pitcher, but he is wild.  He had a few wild pitches and hit a batter in the fifth inning, eventually leading to the end of his night.  After hitting a batter, he walked three straight batters and was pulled.

-  Mitchell Clegg, who relieved Demny, came into the game and was able to get out of the inning after the first batter he faced grounded into a DP.  Clegg then pitched four more innings of one hit ball, walking only one batter and striking out five.  He was getting a lot of batters to miss and for the second consecutive night, Hagerstown only needed to use one reliever.

-  Hood continues to hit the ball well (a double tonight) when the opposing pitchers make mistakes, but still has a glaring weakness:  swinging at pitches in the dirt.  He had two strike outs tonight on such pitches and cannot lay off of them for some reason.

-  Francisco Soriano continues to be impressive for the Suns and had an infield single and two doubles tonight.  He also had two stellar defensive plays that sent the Hagerstown announcer into a frenzy.  Soriano, a 22 year old IFA from the DR, doesn't have much power but is a good contact guy who is also a very good baserunner.

-  Another good baserunner, Eury Perez, got his first hit since April 23 tonight, an infield single but struggled at the plate the rest of the night.  His defense is great, as he got to every thing hit to CF, but the SAL league may be a bit too advanced for him at this point.  I expect for him to be sent back to Vermont come June.

-  Adrian Nieto took the start behind the plate tonight and had the pitcher throw at least 4 pitches in each of his at-bats.  The announcer described Nieto as having one of the best eyes on the team (along with Sandy Leon and Justin Bloxom) and Nieto backed this statement up by drawing 3 walks, in addition to advancing a runner on a bunt down the 3rd base line.  It sounded like he performed pretty well behind the plate, despite the wildness from Demny, and he saved a few balls that were destined to go behind him.

-  Marcus Jones had the two key hits of the night, driving in the only run off of Wheeler and then leading off the fateful 7th with a single to center.  He also played RF pretty well, getting to a few balls that the announcer thought were sure to be hits or out of bounds.  Jones, who is a defensive specialist, is starting to come to his own at the plate after missing most of last season with a knee injury.

JMU - solid write-up ... i listened to Hagerstown's broadcast a bit ... but mostly Harrisburg (who won again).  I love listening to Senators games and hope to make it up there this Sunday.

Good to hear Marcus Jones had another good game (he has been playing well recently).  Hood continues to flirt with .400 average, but obviously the k's are there.

Nieto is having a strong year defensively and offensively ... good to hear.

Demny is a under the radar prospect that most people don't know about ... he has good stuff, but you're right the wildness is kind of an eyesore.

Some thoughts from listening to the Sens game, that featured two starting pitchers who have logged a good amount of MLB time ... Senators Matt Chico vs. R-Phillies Joe Blanton.

>They are playing a lot like the Nats ... solid starting pitching, a bullpen that is in the zone, some sure-handed defense and timely hitting.

>Matt Chico - was pretty spot on tonight.  5 ip, h, er, 3 bb, 3 k ... good to see from Matt.

>Danny Espinosa - kind of an up and down night ... he did score two runs and also had a base hit and a walk (.306 avg), but he did have two errors.

>Chris Marrero - notthing much.

>Leonard Davis - the Nats farmhand fan favorite crushed a ball for a 3-run homer off of Blanton.  Terry Byrom (Sens pbp guy) said the ball was an absolute blast.  He played both right and left field tonight.  It was Davis' 3rd homer of the season and he has 11 RBI's on the year.

>Bullpen - Rafael Martin, Victor Garate and Erik Arnesen combined for a 4-inning, 1-hit, 0-run, 2-walk, 3-strikeout performance.  Arnesen picked up his second save of the year.  All three (to go along with Storen and Carr) have impressed coming out of the Sens bullpen.

The Senators return home tonight - have a day off tomorrow - for a 10-game homestand after sweeping their rivaled Reading Phillies with plenty of momentum.

Arnesen is pitching really well this year (he did last year as well), he should get a chance in the Nats bullpen down the line if he continues to perform at the same level.

Thanks for the notes, I would like to listen to more games, but unfortunately they are usually all on at the same time.  I like all the minor league announcers, except for Potomac's who I have not heard yet (I liked the guy from last year, but I think they have a new one).

Callis also sees good times in store for both the Nationals and Rangers, among others.

Anyone know what he said in that article. Stras and Harper must be part of the reason he's so optomistic about our future...

Stephen Strasburg, RHP, Nationals (Double-A Harrisburg)

Tuesday's stats: 5 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 6 K

At this point it has nothing to do with how good Strasburg is, it's just what he can do on any given day. On Monday, after rain delayed start number four by a day, Strasburg delivered his best outing yet as a pro, technically retiring all 16 batters he faced, as a dropped third strike turned out to be the only blemish on his record. He sat at 94-97 with his fastball, his power breaking ball generated some foolish swings, his changeup fell off the table and his command and control was impeccable. It's not about developing a player anymore, it's about managing service time. The over/under remains early June for a big league arrival, and he's not only the best pitcher for Washington when he arrives, he just might be one of the best in the National League. Did I also mention that he had the only RBI in a 1-0 win for the Senators?

The P-Nats rallied for an exciting comeback win 5-4 over Myrtle Beach.  Michael Burgess hit his first home run of the season, an opposite field shot right to the porch.  After letting up a first inning, 2-out, 2 score home run, Evan Bronson settled down and pitched 5 scoreless innings.

Basically, yes. Callis states that Zimmerman, Zimmermann, Strasburg, Storen, Harper, and Matt Purke (his projection for Nats 2011 first rounder) will lead the Nats to the playoffs in 2013
