lol @ those who didn't want to re-sign Livo.

Bigger laughing at people who suffered under the delusion that this organization had enough pitching depth not to need even the mediocre Livo.

When can you ever have enough pitching depth?

This is what I'm thinking. Love him in DC but we could reward him with a spot on a post season team and he could always be back next year.

Yes LOL at people who saw 4 consecutive years of bad pitching and thought it would be better to spend money somewhere else when all the evidence pointed towards Livo not having anything left.

Congrats to Livo getting his knee straightened out and returning to good pitching form.  Hope it keeps up.

Yeah, 4 consecutive years of bad pitching by Nationals pitchers - an organization that could not afford to pass up on a veteran starter when they had such little depth.

we're 42-54

At this point last year, we were 28-68.  80 wins is still not out of the question.

Those folks ignored his audition with us end of last year, a chance for the Nats scouts and medical folks to assess where they thought he was.  He's pretty much picked up where he left off last year.  A quality start machine, with the occasional stinker.  In all, a very useful pitcher for us.

Yeah last year it was fun to see him back and this year, he's really taken it up a notch.  He came in to camp in very good shape (all things considering).  I remember seeing him in San Diego last season (the Nats barely lost that game) and it was vintage Livo.

We would have to go 38-28.  Out of the question?  No.  Plausible?  Ehh...it will be very difficult.  Maybe we will pad our win total by screwing over the Mets in September.

80 wins shouldn't have been in the question to start with.  70+ should be the goal.

42-54 is a .438 (.4375) winning %.  70 wins would be an 11 game improvement over last year with a .432 winning %.  This team is right where it should be.  Improve by 11 wins in 2011 to 81-81 and by the time most of the young talent is hitting it's prime the team is ready to add a major piece or two and a legitimate playoff contender for a few years at least.
