2013 Ticket prices increasing
« Topic Start: January 26, 2013, 10:51:28 AM »
Quote
WASHINGTON -- The Nationals are planning on raising ticket prices in 2013 after a successful '12 campaign and an upcoming season with a lot of expectations, but the team is also giving loyal fans a chance to avoid the increase.

Anyone who purchases one- or two-year deals on full, half and partial season-ticket plans, as well as one-year deals on mini plans, will receive a discount if they purchase before April 1.

Ticket price hikes were inevitable, just hope they're not too big of an increase for the individual games.

If you get a plan before March 31st, you can keep 2012 prices for years to come.

Lerners locking people into three year deals so that they can do a Marlins style payroll dump and still rake in the cash.

Lol. Hopefully just sarcasm.

I think people need to grab a clue and let go of the past: Lerner's the richest MLB owner. He's also ancient. Huge baseball fan, passionate about the team, and admittedly focused on making money. But an insanely rich owner obsessed with seeing one WS win before skating off to the great unknown can't be overlooked. Loria is a scumbag, no comparison to be made here. Ted is going to view upcoming years as 'now or never' and go all out accordingly. He already has.

OK, I was joking, unless it really happens.

I think it is strategery. Get people locked into season ticket plans to avoid a hike that is secretly only a few percent.

Oh please, they'll raise prices to the limit that the market will bear. Based on the September attendance numbers they still have a ways to go before they can jack them back up to 2008 levels.

They also want to mitigate the risk that the team will fall short of expectations, leading to a decline in single ticket/walk-up sales. You want to sell future tickets when expectations for the team are sky-high.

I don't do ticket plans, because I like being able to make spur of the moment decisions about which games I'll attend or not attend. If they sold something like a pre-paid card with 10 tickets on them, that I can use like a SmartTrip card to enter games that aren't sold out, I would totally do that.

A Lerner fluffer's job is never done.

I count on the NATS being in the playoffs for a long time to come.  As a season ticket holder since 2005, I'll be first in line for those tickets and for All-Star tickets (hopefully) when it gets here.

That's a great idea.  You should run that past someone in the ticket office.  Do you know of any teams that do something similar?

It looks like the RF/LF mezzanine seats will be going up by about $5 and the gallery seats going up by about $2.

I'm wondering if they raise the terrace seats by more like $5 . . .

I wonder if this lasts with sequestration -  i read dod will give civilians a day a week off,  so if the dominant employer is cutting take home pay by more than 20% (assuming people want to keep insurance),  I wonder if the market can bear the increase

It was clear that prices were going to go up. I liked that they offered locking in for 3 years with no increases and actually getting a discount. Nothing like getting a break on something you are going to buy anyway.
