Do you know where Walney Plantation is/was? Not much is left, but there is a national park where our family plantation was.

They have some very nice houses and condos in the area circling the park. Guessing homes were going for $600K or more. When we drove through there a couple of years ago I could feel the money leaving my family chest. It actually hurt.

Did you check out Machen Rd on the other side of I-66?

Don't think so. Will this cause more sadness?

Not unless strip malls, churches, townhomes, condos, and a library bothers you.  (but we won't say anything about the day laborer gathering spot). Sounds like Anywhere USA, right?  :icon_mrgreen:

Sounds like what would have been prime commercial real estate income ;)

If by some chance Granny had kept her 1,000 acres- what would my bank account look like now?

You'd be spending your winters in Palm Beach.   :icon_mrgreen:

Nah, I'd be at the Verizon Center watching the Caps, but I might take a week or two for a trip to Florida for Spring Training.

You might've had enough to buy into the Caps when Leonsis was at his low point a few years back and had to bring in additional investors. C'est la vie!

We can still get you there, Blue.  I'm going to start a thread soon on drinking wine to beat the new depression.  A recent visit to DCFan's Trader Joe convinced me that one can drink fairly well on a limited budget.  However, research continues..... :glug:

Good tie-in, I believe Trader Joe's sits on the former Machen estate.  :woop:

HEY NOTLD should have posted his new arrival here too!  Reagan MacKenzie IS a new member.  We should try to come up with a moniker for her!   :D

R-Mac has been suggested.

Little Mac (as opposed to Big Mac)

R lil Mac

I believe NotLD would be upset at the prospect of coming up with a contrived nickname for his offspring.

Lets just name her Big Mac. Its one of those things I should know since my intro to lit class went over it a few days ago.... Giving something a name thats totally opposite?

ie Tiny for a big guy
ie Speedy for a slow guy

Spectacular.

Apparently the dwindling economy has taken a bite out of Chief's moderation pay.  How did this DONKEY get an account?
