Seems like they typically stagger them a year, and the current Mac Office looks nothing like the current Windows Office, so my guess would be no. After all, if you're taking a risk, why would you focus on the version of your product made for your competitor's hardware?
I don't know if this is still the case, but for a long time the Mac BU was in Microsoft's gaming division, and worked on a separate code base from the Office developers. They seem to be working toward more consistency (Outlook for Mac was a huge jump over Entourage). I heard years ago the reason for the organization strategy was because the Mac BU was profitable, so they used it to cover losses from the Xbox launch.
