Desmond at SS? I dunno about that one.

I'll be curious how many representatives we end up having though. Through voting, Harper has to be a distinct possibility. Zimmerman is the only other realistic nationally known, through voting possibility, and combined with Wright and his year? Ain't happening.

But pitching? Jesus Christ should we have a ton. Gio, Stras and at least one reliever should be locks. We might have four representatives on the team this year, a definitive record for the Nats. Looks like a good year for Nats all-star fans, and an expensive year if you buy jerseys of all-stars as I have in the past. Definitely would get a Harper and Stras jersey, and prolly Gio too.

unfortunately Harper isn't on the ballot for some silly reason.  He has to be written in so he has no shot at the fan vote.

The Desmond pick is a total homer pick sure, but heh why not=)

Perhaps not but think of all the ballots that are filled by morons with the lineups of the yankees and red sox.  :hang:

Granted. For that reason alone, I'd prefer the fans only getting the "last minute, who got screwed" picks, and leave the rest to the pros and managers.

Harper isn't on because he wasn't on the OD lineup, a prerequisite, I believe. I have to imagine, if ever a write in vote got in, it'd be Harper. And if he hits .300 with six or more homers in June, he has to be on said "last position player voted" that Morse was on last year. Has to.

Those are pretty good picks mostly - only totally undeserving one is Jeter, maybe Uggla.

Jeter is punished by consideration of defense, and I'm not sure a lot of voters and writers buy into the saber view that Jeter is horrible in the field.  Offensively, only Asdrubal and Andrus are close.  Andrus might deserve it the most, but it is hard to say there is a bias against the Rangers based on those results.  I'm guessing Asdrubal goes as the Indian rep.

That's the thing, the Rangers are one of those teams that legitimately, on merit, could send a massive slate of All-Stars - Hamilton obviously, Kinsler almost as obviously, Napoli based on his insane second half last year, Beltre is a great candidate, Cruz is probably not but the ASG typically rewards great April play and Cruz was absolutely historic in October so it's good to see voters remembering that.

Write-In Bryce Harper.

Last Write-In Winner? Steve Garvey, 1974.

NL.  I think Freddie Lynn made it as an AL write in in 1975.

Still pretty sure Garvey was the last write in starter - AL or NL.

Lynn was on the '75 All Star team, but was not a starter.
