You've been to... Uranus?
Barring cloudy skies, this week’s Perseid meteor shower may be a classic, excellent show. The shooting star spectacle peaks on the night of Wednesday into Thursday morning, with as many as 90 to 100 shooting stars an hour, according to the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada and the Royal Astronomical Society in the U.K. In the eastern U.S., the most prolific cosmic bombardment will likely be around 4 a.m. Eastern time. This year’s peak could be phenomenal because the Perseids won’t compete with moon light, since the waning crescent moon sets at 6:44 p.m. on Wednesday. This will create a nice dark, moon-free heaven for meteor observers. How can you watch? “Look towards the familiar constellations Cassiopeia and Perseus in the northeast,” according to NASA. “They rise soon after sunset, but you’ll want to wait til they are higher in the sky to see the most meteors.”
Big night for meteor watchers tonight.http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/capital-weather-gang/wp/2015/08/11/a-phenomenal-perseids-meteor-shower-peaks-this-week-heres-how-to-watch/
Numerous recent blogs and Web postings are claiming that an asteroid will impact Earth, sometime between 15 and 28 September 2015. On one of those dates, as rumors go, there will be an impact — “evidently” near Puerto Rico — causing wide-spread destruction to the Atlantic and Gulf coasts of the United States and Mexico, as well as Central and South America. NASA strongly rejects these unfounded rumors. “There is no scientific basis — not one shred of evidence — that an asteroid or any other celestial object will impact Earth on those dates,” said Paul Chodas, manager of NASA’s Near-Earth Object office.

In this case, it is the "final frontier". Better stock up on alcohol for the show.
It is going to rain toasted coconut when this happens. Better buy some rum for pina coladas.
Haven't had rum in a while. It's usually my winter "go to" beverage. I guess I'll have to buy some of those little umbrellas as well.
What, nobody outside for the lunar eclipse tonight? http://www.space.com/30607-supermoon-lunar-eclipse-time-place-guide.htmlAnd it's a "supermoon" too
Too cloudy here
Yeah, it's about 90% cloudy here but when the clouds part the moon is intensely bright. Full dark at the moment though.
Looked out the window and was much surprised to see the moon. Not much yet but believe it's supposed to peak in about an hour?
The left edge is getting cut pretty good now.
Got it in E. Loudoun. Pretty cool.
Damn, that thing is moving out west now!
Damn clouds.
We're pretty clear. She's 2/3 gone. How far south and west are you from Dulles?
