#Nats announce Opening Day festivities. They don't include Obama, but Teddy Roosevelt's great-great grandson will announce "Play ball."

Good, who wants to see the most American game ruined by the least American President anyways. I'd much rather see a real hero like the MOH awardee throw the first pitch anyways.

I plan on getting in early.   (Hammonds, this does not mean the 3rd inning)

You know women like to show up fashionably late.  :mg:

Also, let's keep politics where it belongs.

Save the politics for somewhere else, please. Thanks.

Fine.... but I'm still jealous of all of you that get to go to Nats park for opening day. I'm going to be stuck at Turner Field watching the Phillies play the Braves, silently hoping that there is some possible way for them to both lose the game.

Maybe you'll get to see Jimmy Carter through out the first pitch.

They are doing some thing where for 55 bucks you get a ticket to the game and free beer and wine and bbq before the game for 3 hours in one of the parking lots. I think I'm just gonna get really drunk and remind people about how much I like the outfield fly rule.

The Turtle's buying!

Ok, how do we determine whether blue or Terp is buying?  Coin toss?  Rock paper scissors?

Yours truly....Johnny Dollar.  I listen to old time radio on xm radio.  The show always ends with the character listing his expenses and signing the letter Yours Truly Johnny Dollar.

If Nathan is going, I'll consider getting a ticket and picking him up.

I'm leaving Buffalo for Poughkeepsie tomorrow to visit my brother at college, probably go into the city for a day, I think it's only an hour and a half away - (btw, can fans go into the MLB fan cave?) then coming back to Buffalo on Easter, after brunch of course. Spending April 1 in Buffalo watching the Nats, and the rest of the MLB games (I love you, MLB.tv). Then Tuesday, me and the GF are making the 7+ hour drive to DC and going to game 2 on Wednesday. I wish I could go straight from Poughkeepsie to DC, but oh well, I'm young.

This will be my 2nd trip to Nationals park, so I'm very excited.

Taking a party of 12. Meeting at my house at 10:30. Rented a huge van and will park in Lot P for the first time. Will do some serious tailgating until 1ish. Go in and watch pre-game festivities. Watch Stras dominate and bring home a Curly W.

Advice to first timers to OD. Do most of your eating and drinking before you go inside (or bring in your own food). The lines are always long because it's a big crowd AND the staff is new for the most part. Double whammy.

Metro will be packed due to commuters,  and WH Easter Egg Hunt  families.   I'm going as if I'm going to work and eating a long breakfast on the way.

The commuters will have an impact on the way home, especially if it's a game that goes past 4pm.

I don't really think the WH thing really draws that many numbers. But I sure as heck don't know....

35,000 according to the website:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/eastereggroll

On Monday April 1, 2013, the First Family will host the 135th annual White House Easter Egg Roll. This year, more than 35,000 people will be joining us on the South Lawn for games, stories, and, of course, the traditional egg roll.

I drove down to the ballpark Tuesday to verify whether my preferred parking is still available (it is). Those of you who use the 11th Street Bridge to or from games ought to check the various traffic blogs (the "JDLand" blog is a good one) to confirm your routing, as there have been some big changes since last fall. Most notable is the complete shutdown of the Southwest–Southeast Freeway between the 11th Street Bridge and Pennsylvania Avenue (you must instead use the new ramps connecting DC-295 and the bridge, or else use the Douglass Bridge).

I've been considering whether just to drive Ms1995hoo to work and then go park near the ballpark right then....just not sure if I want to be there quite that early (9:30-ish). I'm turning this into a four-day weekend—not planning to do much work tomorrow on Good Friday, then not doing any work at all Monday.

Are there any cool new bars to go to?  I see that a few have opened but have any of you checked them out?
