Our heat pump for our upstairs died this weekend. we're being quoted $7,700 for a 2.5 ton, 17 Seer, Lennox unit. Sound reasonable?
Sounds a bit high to me.We had a near to top of the line Carrier Infinity http://www.residential.carrier.com/products/acheatpumps/heatpumps/infinity.shtml installed two years ago for about that, but I think it was 3.5 ton, enough to do our whole house (3,600 sq ft including basement). We got two bids, one was substantially lower and they did a great job, and continue to do a fine job with service. The low bid was our existing servicer Richard's, and we used Angie's List to find a competitor for bidding purposes. This is one of only a couple of service providers I am committed to given their consistent good performance over the 10 years we've been in the house. http://www.richardsac.com/It won't hurt to get a another free estimate or two.
