why can't mlb get past wanting the human element in the game when it comes to umpires.  That's basically saying that they want horribly bad calls mixed in just to keep the game old-fashioned

This video of Laz Diaz getting hit in his family jewels makes me feel a little better...

    • LOL @ Desmond's four run error. Even if early season Desi isn't a mirage it's going to be a roller coaster to cheer for this dude for years to come.
Huh? You're mat at him for that play?

Oh, that was a blown call? I was at the game, so I thought it was on Desmond.

yeah, laroche made it back to the base before the runner got there so he should have been out

I was at the game too, but I was listening on my portable XM radio and the radio guys said it was clearly a blown call.  Go back towards the beginning of this GDT and there's a great pic that indisputably shows the runner was out by a step-and-a-half.

    Edit:  Here's the pic:

    Wow, that's bad.

Okay, well, I stand corrected. Desmond still could have made a clean play, though.

Holy crap...I just saw the missed strike call that ended up being ball four to Jay Bruce on TV for the first time on News4.  I can understand a borderline call, but that ball was right over the damn plate.  Laz Diaz needs his eyes checked.

I knew it was bad but I didn't know it was this bad until getting home from the game. After talking with my fiancee we should really consider Brazillian style retribution. The umps seem to have hit a new low this year.
