time for a math lesson.  This one is easy.

Current standings:
Nats         55- 39
Braves     52-43   (3.5 GB)

Had we won on more game AND LOST ONE FEWER:  56-38
had the Braves lost one more AND WON ONE FEWER:  51-44 (5.5 GB)
