The Royals have fired Frank White from his announcing job because they thought he was too critical of the team. Dibble situation 2.0.

Except Dibble wasn't a legend for the Nats/Expos.  Behind George Brett, Frank White is the Kansas City Royals.

He was also a good announcer and wasn't a douche like Dibble tended to be. I watched lots of Royals games, and I can't think of a single instance where he was unfairly critical of the Royals in any capacity.

I'm wondering if it happened recently, maybe on one of their Winter Caravans, a local interview, perhaps.  Just speculating...

Heck, don't bother to hire him for MASN, sign him as a coach for the Nats.

I think Frank White was who drove Bill James into sabermetrics.

Not a favorite of James?

That's OK.  He can still work with the MIs on fielding and can help on base running.  I don't think Davey would go to crud being influenced by White on strategy.

Yes, allergic to walks, but given the era he played in, it was probably more of a team style than a principled objection.  It's kind of like Andre Dawson and Jim Rice not drawing walks.  It just was undervalued at the time.  Meanwhile, stats and eyeballs always had him as plus fielder, which James really did not credit in his early work but has come to recognize as having significant value.  His WAR on FG was over two (average) for most of the second half of his career, and he had a few nice years sprinkled in.

Well, they just signed Jose Reyes.  One more person on that team who will probably own us...

Kinda frustrating. We wait and wait while the organization attempts to build a winner and then the friggin fish put together a competitor in a matter of days.  :|

People will disagree with me on this but, as is pretty obvious from my posts, I don't really care - the Marlins, in terms of what's on their major league roster right now, are a better team than the Nationals.  You can point to Harper and this years draft and so on and so forth, but, in terms of what's on the major league roster today, the Marlins are the better team.  Everyone that thinks this is going to be some disastrous year in Little Havana should go ahead and get a big ol' bowl of Fook City soup ready to eat.

I don't disagree with you. They are probably better at this point and they might actually get even better if they sign Pujols or Fielder. Add in the fact that they absolutely own us and it's bad news for the Nats. We may be a better team next season, but actually end up finishing in 4th behind Philly, Atlanta, and Miami.

Essentially, the Marlins offered Pujols a ten year deal

A's reliever (and Ivy League grad) Craig Breslow found out that he'd been traded to Arizona from his Twitter feed.

Brewers and Aramis Ramirez agree to terms for 3 years.
