Nats are about to go 4-7 in their last 11.  Just about on a pace to allow the Braves to catch them.

Davey's just not going to come out to the media and say he's worried, angry, disappointed, etc.  It's not how he rolls.  If you want that crap, root for the Marlins and that hack Ozzie Guillen.
He has before

I'll take that bet SF. What are the stakes?

I'm willing to avatar bet anyone that the Nats lose the division.

Ok, someone cheer me up with some stats.....I have heard that if we play 500 ball the Braves would have to win out but I am doubting we can play 500 ball.  What if we just finish, say three and five after tonights probable loss.

9 games left for both us and the Braves (counting tonight).  We need any combination of 5 Nats wins or Braves losses to win the division.  If we go 3-6, Braves need to go 8-1 to force a tie.

Relax - if the Nats go 4-4 and the Braves go 8-0, then there's a tiebreaker game. None of that will happen.

Wouldn't we just win due to better head to head record?

LaRoche literally golfed that. WTF is wrong with them? It was rolling on the ground!

Exactly. The Nats aren't winning 4 more games. Sigh..

You don't think the Nats will hang on to the division? At this point it would be embarrassing to go in as a wild card.

no - all the rules were changed so that there are as many play-in games as possible. MLB is greedy for the ratings.

Nope. Goes to tiebreaker game in DC

Not for the division. If two teams are tied they have to play one game to determine the division crown.

They have a shot, but I think anyone who feels good about where they are right now is insane.  Braves are hot and Nats are scuffling the past 10 days.

Yup. Atlanta shouldnt lose a game the rest of the way. We might not win until the weekend but we never win in St. Louis so...

I'll take that bet SF. What are the stakes?

I think the Braves will come close to winning out.  They're playing good baseball, so they should demolish teams like the Mets, Pirates, and Marlins.

OTOH, the Nats are playing some of their worst baseball and going up against two good teams in historically tough match-ups.

Honestly, I think it's a toss-up, but I could easily see the Nats blowing the division and I'm willing to avatar bet anyone who's overconfident about it.

I admit I'm not too overconfident. I think they will win it but it will be close. I want to bet SF, who seems overconfident that they won't win it, posting privileges and avatar.

If we are one and done in the playoffss ( either in wild card game or division loss ) the Strasburg decision will get major, major media attention with all of the "I Told You So" talking heads having a field day.

SSS - we will win the next two.  We've won 4 of our last 7 against some pretty good teams, and were a few bullpen implosions away from winning 6 of 7.
