Just think if we could get 488 ABs out of Flores, though.  :?

He's been better the last month.  Not lights out by any means, but improved over his lousy most of the season.

I've never said so many bad things about an ultimately nice guy. It's just time for him to retire. Riggleman sucks for embarrassing the guy time and again, but Villone should retire midseason.

Rizzo will bring him back because he is the strong, veteran leader of the bullpen and is left-handed.

If the Nats don't take the lead this inning LA wins this game.  I'm trying the reverse jinx root for Washington logic.(double secret probation type stuff)

If we're going to win this game, we'll have to do it from the bottom of the order.

Would have left Clippard in or brought in Burnett.

so dumb. Did he really expect Villone to keep the score tied?

freak you jim riggleman.

worst manager of the bullpen ever.

villone is a piece of trash. why does he continue to be brought in to face left-handed hitters when they own him?

Isn't Furcal a switch hitter?  Maybe should have pitched to Thome only

yes. furcal is a switch hitter. even after retiring Thome it doesn't mean bringing him in was a good idea.

Villone should only be used when the score is a blowout. Same with Kensing.

I'd rather have Bergmann than Villone or Kensing.   :|

The box score may say only 1 error for Willingham tonight, but I think we all know that's BS.  I'm not hating on the guy, but damn he's had a rough night.

Burnett has the Kearns injury

Quote
Did you ever wonder why Sean Burnett hasn't pitched much of late? He still has the left thumb contusion suffered last month against the Brewers.

Burnett hurt the thumb in the seventh inning on Aug. 23 trying to field a groundball hit by Milwaukee's Felipe Lopez.

Burnett, who never went on the DL because of the injury, believes rest will make it better.

"It's a lingering problem and  it hasn't gotten any better since I got hit ," Burnett said. "It wasn't that hard of a hit ball. It's just something that didn't get any better. At times it has gotten worse. It just hasn't come along like I thought it would, but I've been going out there as much as possible."

Burnett is planning to see several doctors in the next couple of days.

From the Nats Facebook page.

I agree Villone isn't that good, pitch to Thome and done.  The problem is Riggleman has nowhere to turn.

he looked sharp last night in facing one batter.

shame about the injury. plenty of time to recover for '10 though.

sigh this team blows.

another winnable game lost due to stupidity.

Pitt would have only been 3.5 games back if we had won.
